Other Required Academic Activities. Rate Type Description Rate P Other required academic activities includes all other work that is required to be performed by a person, acting as or on behalf of the employer and is so performed by the employee, being work in the nature of, but not limited to: - the conduct of practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions; - the conduct of clinical sessions other than clinical nurse education; - the conduct of performance or visual art studio sessions; - musical coaching, repetiteurship, musical accompanying other than with special educational service; - development of teaching and subject materials such as the preparation of subject guides, reading lists and basic activities associated with subject coordination; - consultation with students; - attendance at relevant lectures at the direction of the University - supervision; - attendance at departmental, school and/or faculty meetings as required. Other Required Academic Activities. Includes work that a person, acting as or on behalf of the University requires the sessional academic to perform and that is performed in accordance with any such requirement, being the work of the following nature of, but not limited to: • the conduct of practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions and preparation for such activities as required, and agreed with the Head of School; • the conduct of clinical sessions other than clinical nurse education; • the conduct of performance or visual art studio sessions; • musical coaching, repetiteurship, musical accompanying other than with special educational service; • development of teaching and subject materials such as the preparation of subject guides, reading lists and basic activities associated with subject coordination; • consultation with students; • supervision; • attendance at departmental and/or faculty meetings as required by the Head of School including meetings related to moderation and assessment; • moderating a discussion forum, being available for student consultation online or in person, being available for consultation/assistance on a specific activity such as a simulation and that no preparation or follow up is required outside of paid time; and • attendance at any activities set out in this Schedule from 1 to 5. This above list is not intended to be exhaustive, but is provided by way of examples and guidance. Other Required Academic Activities. Rate S Other required academic activities (Rate S) includes all other work that is required to be performed by a person, acting as or on behalf of JCU and is so performed by the staff member, being work in the nature of, but not limited to: • the conduct of practical classes, demonstrations, student field excursions; • the conduct of clinical sessions other than clinical nurse education or those covered by Rate U; • the conduct of performance, media arts or visual art studio sessions; • musical coaching, repetiteurship, musical accompanying; • development of teaching and subject materials such as the preparation of subject guides, reading lists and basic activities associated with subject coordination; • consultation with students; • supervision; • attendance at departmental and/or faculty meetings or induction sessions as required; • attendance and participation in approved training and development; • where directed to, attend at a lecture and other teaching activities; and • Oversight of and input into on-line discussions such as blogs, discussion boards, wiki’s etc. Rate T Other required academic activities as for Rate S, in circumstances where full subject coordination duties are required as part of normal duties or the staff member holds a relevant doctoral qualification. Rate U Medically-qualified Demonstrators in the School of Medicine or a Clinical Demonstrator in the School of Dental Science are paid at a higher rate.
