National Scholarships. Target: Students enrolling at Keele as first year, English or EU, non-NHS funded undergraduate students in 2013. Funding: National Scholarship Programme and match-funding Estimated Cost: £660,000 Value: £3,000 per eligible student Criteria: We will award a package to the value of £3,000 in the first year of their undergraduate degree course to 220 students with a gross annual household income below £25,000 who also meet at least one of the following criteria: Students from Keele’s “A2K” Widening Participation access scheme (refer to page 6 for more details), All care leavers, All those in receipt of Adult Dependants Grant, All those in receipt of Childcare Grant, Those who meet the criteria for eligibility to receive Free School Meals Students who receive an NSP award in year one and continue to meet the criteria for a Keele University Bursary will revert to that award in the subsequent years of their full-time undergraduate degree at Keele University for up to a maximum of four years. Proposed Allocation Process £2,000 fee waiver and a £1,000 cash bursary in year one only.

Funding: National Scholarship Programme and match-funding Estimated Cost: £498,000 Value: £3,000 per eligible student Criteria: We will award a package to the value of £3,000 in each year of their undergraduate degree course to students with a gross annual household income below £25,000 who also meet at least one of the following criteria: Students from Keele’s “A2K” Widening Participation access scheme (refer to page 6 for more details), Students who received the government pre-16 study bursary, All care leavers, All those in receipt of Adult Dependants Grant, All those in receipt of Childcare Grant, some students in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowances (this proposal is in development) Proposed Allocation Process £2,000 fee waiver and a £1,000 cash bursary in the first year. £3000 fee waiver in years two and three (up to a mximum of four years).

National Scholarships. Leeds College of Music participates in the National Scholarship programme, match- funding the annual government allocation. LCoM receives a proportion of Leeds City College’s government allocation. Income information will be derived from the annual financial assessment used to determine grants and loans payable by the Student Loans Company. EU students will need to request an income assessment if they wish to be considered for a National Scholarship. • In the event that there are more than 36 qualifying students, those with the highest score at audition/interview will be selected for the Scholarship. • Applicants for all undergraduate courses are given equal consideration. Leeds College of Music also offers several additional scholarships which are awarded on merit following an audition/interview. Entry to Higher Education It is acknowledged that the primary and secondary education systems do not always prepare young people for application to a conservatoire, and we recognise that identifying students with potential must begin at a young age. Our outreach activities aim to support young people from LCoM’s partner schools and from lower-income households to aspire to and to reach the standard required for a Higher Education course in music.
