INFORMAL INVESTIGATION. 27.2 Minor incidents may be handled without the necessity of a formal investigation. Minor incidents are defined as those for which no more than ten (10) demerit marks will be assessed and which cannot, when added to the employee’s current record, result in discharge for accumulation of demerits. Such incidents will be investigated as quickly as possible by a proper officer(s) of the Company. INFORMAL INVESTIGATION. An appropriate administrator will discuss the complaint with the complainant and/or the unit member and endeavor to resolve the complaint as soon as possible, but in no event later than ten (10) days of receipt of any written complaint.

INFORMAL INVESTIGATION. Minor incidents related to railway operations will be handled without formal investigation. The employee will be notified that this is an informal survey. The Railway may issue between zero (0) and fifteen (15) demerit points depending on the situation. The decision must be rendered within six (6) days of the date of the investigation. At the conclusion of an investigation, the Railway may decide to call the employee for a formal investigation if the extent or severity of the offense is greater than expected. If the employee does not agree with the Railway's decision of the investigation, the employee’s representative will inform the appropriate Railway authority within 6 business days of the result of the investigation. If the employee doesn’t agree with the Railway’s disciplinary measure, the employee’s representative will proceed in accordance with Article 20.
