Holidays Observed – Part-Time Employees. When a holiday is observed by the County, each part time employee is entitled to observe the holiday in the same ratio as his/her number of position hours bears to forty (40) hours, multiplied by eight (8) hours, without a reduction in pay. For example, a part time employee whose position hours are 24 per week is entitled to 4.8 hours off work on a holiday (24/40 x 8 = 4.8). Hereafter, the number of hours produced by this calculation will be referred to as the “part time employee’s holiday hours.”

Hereafter, the number of hours produced by this calculation will be referred to as the “Part Time employee’s holiday hours.” When the number of hours in a part time employee’s scheduled work day that falls on a holiday (“scheduled work hours”) is more than the employee’s “Part Time employee’s holiday hours,” the employee must use non-sick leave accruals for the difference between the employee’s “scheduled work hours” and the employee’s “Part Time employee’s holiday hours.” If the employee does not have any non-sick leave accrual balances, leave without pay (AWOP) will be authorized.

  • Part-Time Employees (a) A part-time employee is an employee who is engaged to work less than an average of 38 ordinary hours per week and whose hours of work are reasonably predictable.
