WATER, SANITATION, AND HYGIENE. The BMZ and the Foundation recognize the importance of addressing sanitation for sustainable development. The need, but also the opportunity, to prevent disease and to enhance the quality of people’s lives through improved sanitation is greater than ever. Improved sanitation has profound economic, educational and social benefits. Both partners therefore share a common interest in increasing access to safe, adequate and sustainable sanitation. The Foundation’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene initiative focuses on sanitation, particularly in Africa and Asia. Germany is committed to pro- viding access to sustainable sanitation with a focus on urban contexts and schools and on improving the situation in host communities for refugees. Hence, both partners are currently increasing their focus on and activities in the field of access to sanitation. The BMZ and the Foundation intend to continue their cooperation in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene by sharing knowledge and exploring opportunities to jointly finance innovative projects. Both partners aim to work together along the entirety of the sanitation chain with a focus on improving delivery of sanitation in urban environments. Both partners intend to join forces to increase the coverage of urban sanitation and reduce the prevalence of fecal pollution in line with SDG Target

WATER, SANITATION, AND HYGIENE. (WASH) ‌ Hygiene promotion‌ The ERRs provided hygiene promotion to the 17,091 people they visited. Topics included critical moments for handwashing, handwashing techniques, among others. WASH NFIs‌ During this reporting period, GC procured hygiene and disinfection kits. Procurement of the kits was delayed, initially due to the need to go through a second RFQ process for the procurement of soap bars and subsequently due to problems in identifying locally or regionally manufactured PPE- see Procurement and Logistics section below. The supplier will now deliver the kits to the warehouses on October 5th and 6th and distributions will begin at the end of October. GC finalized its Standard Operating for Procedure (SOP) for the distribution of the kits; distributions will take place door-to-door over six weeks. The kits will be distributed by community health volunteers in the neighborhoods identified as particularly vulnerable and targeted for the CMDS. Beneficiaries will include: • Households visited by ERRs • Vulnerable households identified in collaboration with the CMDS. Criteria varies by community but usually includes: o Household with an family members in high risk categories (e.g. elderly family member or someone with a pre-existing condition) o Low income and low or no access to hygiene items o Household headed by single mothers o Households with no or limited access to water and/or basic sanitation facilities GC is working closely with the community (CMDS members, health facilities, etc.) to identify beneficiaries meeting the criteria. During distributions community volunteers also provide key risk communication messaging to beneficiaries and inform them of the feedback mechanism (FBM) set up by GC (see below). Risk communication material and information on the FBM is also included in the kits.‌ Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) During this reporting period, GC developed an SOP for its Feedback Mechanism (FBM). The M&E Officer received training on GC’s FBM and chosen platform, Podio. Members of GC’s Syria team shared best practices and lessons learned from the FBM used for their OFDA projects. GC set up the feedback phone number and email. No feedback has been received so far but GC anticipates that we will receive feedback following the distribution of the kits. Information on the FBM is included in the hygiene and disinfection kits and volunteers provide information to beneficiaries on the FBM during distributions. GC Health Officers have ...

  • Sanitation The Purchaser’s operations, as described by this contract, shall comply with all applicable State laws, rules and regulations concerning sanitation in operations. Refuse resulting from the Purchaser’s activities, including the use, servicing, repair, or abandonment of equipment, shall be removed, buried or otherwise disposed of in a manner that complies with all State laws and meets the approval of the Forest Officer. The Purchaser shall not service tractors, trucks and similar pieces of equipment on lands that directly drain into or are within 100 feet of lakes, streams or recreational facilities. No logging camp will be located on the gross sale area without prior approval by the Forest Officer.

  • Health and hygiene The Hirer shall, if preparing, serving or selling food, observe all relevant food health and hygiene legislation and regulations. In particular dairy products, vegetables and meat on the premises must be refrigerated and stored in compliance with the Food Temperature Regulations. The premises are provided with a refrigerator and thermometer.

  • CLEAN AIR AND WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT Customer Purchase Orders using federal funds must contain a provision that requires the Contractor to agree to comply with all applicable standards, orders or regulations issued pursuant to the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. 7401-7671q) and the Federal Water Pollution Control Act as amended (33 U.S.C. 1251-1387). Violations must be reported to the Federal awarding agency and the Regional Office of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Pursuant to the Federal Rule above, Contractor certifies that it is in compliance with all applicable provisions of the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. 7401-7671q) and the Federal Water Pollution Control Act as amended (33 U.S.C. 1251-1387) and will remain in compliance during the term of the Contract.

  • Sanitation and Servicing Purchaser shall take all reasonable precautions to prevent pollution of air, soil, and water by Purchaser’s Operations. If facilities for employees are established on Sale Area, they shall be operated in a sanitary manner. In the event that Purchaser’s Operations or servicing of equipment result in pollution to soil or water, Purchaser shall conduct cleanup and restoration of the polluted site to the satisfaction of Forest Service. Purchaser shall maintain all equipment operating on Sale Area in good repair and free of abnormal leakage of lubricants, fuel, coolants, and hydraulic fluid. Purchaser shall not service tractors, trucks, or other equipment on National Forest lands where servicing is likely to result in pollution to soil or water. Purchaser shall furnish oil- absorbing mats for use under all stationary equipment or equipment being serviced to prevent leaking or spilled petroleum-based products from contaminating soil and water resources. Purchaser shall remove from National Forest lands all contaminated soil, vegetation, debris, vehicle oil filters (drained of free-flowing oil), batteries, oily rags, and waste oil resulting from use, servicing, repair, or abandonment of equipment.

  • ENVIRONMENT, SAFETY AND HEALTH PROTECTION (a) Seller shall perform this Agreement in a manner that ensures adequate protection for workers, the public, and the environment, and shall be accountable for actions of itself and its lower-tier subcontractors, agents and employees. Seller shall exercise a degree of care commensurate with the work and the associated hazards. Seller shall ensure that management of environment, safety and health (ES&H) functions and activities is an integral and visible part of Seller’s work planning and execution process. In the event that Xxxxxx fails to comply with this Agreement, Company may, without prejudice to any other legal or contractual rights, issue an order stopping all or any part of the work; thereafter a start order for resumption of work may be issued at Company’s discretion. Seller shall make no claim for an extension of time or for compensation or damages by reason of or in connection with such work stoppage. In addition, Company may require, in writing, that Seller remove from the work any employee the Company deems unsafe, incompetent, careless, or otherwise objectionable.

  • Environmental Pollution Unless disposition of environmental pollution is specifically a part of this contract, PURCHASER shall immediately notify STATE of any hazardous substance(s) which PURCHASER discovers or encounters during performance of the operation. "Hazardous substance(s)" are those substances, materials, or wastes regulated by state or federal law. PURCHASER shall immediately cease operating in any particular area of the operations where a hazardous substance(s) has been discovered or encountered, if continued operations in such area would present a bona fide risk or danger to the health or well being of PURCHASER's or any subcontractor's work force. Upon being notified by PURCHASER of the presence of hazardous substance(s) on the areas of operations, STATE shall arrange for the proper disposition of such hazardous substance(s).

  • SAFETY AND HEALTH 20.1 The Employer, employee and Union have a significant responsibility for workplace safety and health.

  • Pollution Control The Employer and the Union agree to limit all forms of environmental pollution.

  • CLEAN AIR ACT AND THE FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT (a) If the Sub-Recipient, with the funds authorized by this Agreement, enters into a contract that exceeds $150,000, then any such contract must include the following provision: Contractor agrees to comply with all applicable standards, orders or regulations issued pursuant to the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. 7401-7671q) and the Federal Water Pollution Control Act as amended (33 U.S.C. 1251-1387), and will report violations to FEMA and the Regional Office of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

  • OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH The parties desire to deal with safety and health complaints, and to attempt to correct any health or safety violations, internally. Accordingly, neither the Association nor an employee may file a complaint alleging a health or safety violation with the Ohio Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to R.C. §4167.10 until the following process has been completely exhausted:
