Sick Leave Payment – 56-Hour Work Week. In the event of service retirement, disability retirement or death, an employee who has completed ten (10) or more years of continuous service with the City of Petaluma who are assigned to a fifty-six (56) hour work week shall receive fifty percent (50%) of the accumulated but unused sick leave to a maximum of one thousand (1,000) hours. Payment shall be made at the base pay rate and shall include the five percent (5%) longevity pay.

Sick Leave Payment – 56-Hour Work Week. In the event of service retirement, disability retirement or death, an employee who has completed ten (10) or more years of continuous service with the City of Petaluma who are assigned to a fifty-six (56) hour work week shall receive fifty percent (50%) of the accumulated but unused sick leave to a maximum of one thousand (1,000) hours. Payment shall be made at the base pay rate and shall include longevity pay. Effective upon establishment of the Retiree Medical Trust, Fire employees shall no longer be eligible to be paid for accumulated but unused sick leave. In compliance with the Side DocuSign Envelope ID: 56CA2711-AEBA-4789-A02D-3BF089533402 Letter of Agreement establishing a Retiree Medical Trust, accumulated but unused sick leave, up to the limits stated above, shall be irrevocably contributed to the Fire employee’s trust account on a pre-tax basis (to the extent permitted by law). The contribution shall be made at the base pay rate and shall include longevity pay. This contribution shall be made into the Retiree Medical Trust and Fire employees shall not be eligible to receive the payment. Any remaining accumulated but unused sick leave shall be converted to service credit in accordance with MOU Section 25 and the City’s contract with CalPERS.

  • Sick Leave Payment Any employee, at his/her option may choose to receive payment for sick leave earned during the year which is unused at the end of the year. Any such payment must be for the total number of unused sick leave hours earned during the year, must be based on the hourly rate of pay of the employee multiplied by 50 percent, and all hours for which payment is received must be deducted from the employee’s accumulated leave balance. Sick leave used during a current year will be charged against the most recently earned sick leave. Hourly rate of pay is the hourly rate at the end of the contract year.

  • Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:

  • Sick Leave Days Subject to paragraphs d) i-vi below, permanent full-time Teachers will be allocated eleven (11) sick days at one hundred percent (100%) salary in each school year. Teachers who are less than full-time shall have their sick leave allocation pro-rated.

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Annual Paid Sick Leave Fifteen (15) days sick leave per year shall be earned by an employee at the rate of 1.25 days for every month that an employee is employed.

  • Sick Leave Verification The Employer will not require verification for absences of less than 3 consecutive work days. Such verification or proof may be given to the supervisor/manager or Human Resources according to departmental policy. The Employer will not make unreasonable requests for sick leave verification.

  • Sick Leave Donation In accord with state law and Medical Center policy, RN’s may donate sick leave to any employee entitled to receive such donations.

  • Sick Leave Bonus For every six (6) months of perfect sick leave attendance after July 1, 1987, the employee will receive eight (8) hours of bonus time. This bonus time will be prorated for part-time employees. Such bonus time can be used for any leave purpose covered by this Agreement. Such bonus time shall be counted as vacation leave credits for purposes of determining eligibility for carry- over and cash payments.

  • Sick Leave While on Vacation An employee who while on vacation is incapacitated for one (1) or more days due to personal illness or injury may charge such days to accrued sick leave. In such event, the employee promptly shall notify his department, and upon return to duty shall substantiate the need for, and use of, sick leave.

  • Sick Leave Abuse ‌ When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.
