Relieving Pay. When an employee is assigned to relieve in a higher position and performs the normal duties of that position, he/she will receive the rate of pay for the position.
Relieving Pay. When an employee is assigned to relieve in a classification higher than their own, the employee shall receive an additional eight (8) per cent of their own rate but not to exceed the maximum of the higher classification. Written confirmation of approval for relieving pay will be issued to the employee by the Employer prior to commencement of the relief assignment.
Relieving Pay. When an employee is assigned to temporarily relieve in or perform the normal duties of a higher paying position in the bargaining unit for five or more consecutive days, he/she shall be paid the rate for the higher position at the same step of the salary schedule.
Relieving Pay. When an employee is required by the Corporation to perform duties other than those in the normal grade or classification the following shall apply:
Relieving Pay. 04 a) When as a result of a request by the Employer, an employee relieves in a higher paying non-supervisory position for a continuous period of eight (8) hours or more, the employee shall receive 8% on their regular pay for all hours spent in the position. However, should the addition of 8% result in the maximum salary of the relieved position being exceeded, the employee shall receive the maximum salary of the relieved position.
Relieving Pay. 8.04 a) When as a result of a request by the Employer, an employee relieves in a higher paying non-supervisory position for the employee’s entire normal work day or shift, the employee shall receive eight percent (8%) on their regular pay for all hours spent in the position. However, should the addition of eight percent (8%) result in the maximum salary of the relieved position being exceeded, the employee shall receive the maximum salary of the relieved position.
8.04 b) When as a result of a request by the Employer, an employee relieves in a higher paying supervisory position (not including lead or senior positions) for the employee’s entire normal work day or shift, the employee shall receive ten percent (10%) on their regular pay for all hours spent in the position. However, should the addition of ten percent (10%) result in the maximum salary of the relieved position being exceeded, the employee shall receive the maximum salary of the relieved position.
8.04 c) An employee will be considered to be relieving when the employee is required by the Employer to leave their normal work and fill a position (a) to which the incumbent is expected to return; (b) which has become vacant and is open for bid; or (c) which has been temporarily created. When an employee is absent or a position is vacant, there is no requirement for the Employer to replace the absent employee with another employee or to pay the relieving rate. Employees will not be considered to be relieving when they continue to perform the functions of their own positions.
8.04 d) Overtime shall be paid at the relieving rate.
8.04 e) When an employee has been relieving for a period in excess of twenty

8.04 b) When as a result of a request by the Employer, an employee relieves in a higher paying supervisory position (including Crew Leader but not including lead, lead hand, coordinator or senior positions) for a continuous period of four (4) hours or more, the employee shall receive ten percent (10 %) on their normal hourly rate for all hours spent in the position. However, should the addition of ten percent (10 %) result in the maximum salary of the relieved position being exceeded, the employee shall receive the maximum salary of the relieved position.
8.04 c) When as a result of a request by the Employer, an employee relieves a Lead Power Line Technician position for a continuous period of four (4) hours or more, the employee shall receive the rate of the Lead Power Line Technician classification for all hours spent in the position. Subject to operating requirements, an employee may, if they have a bona fide reason, decline a relieving pay assignment as a Lead Power Line Technician.
8.04 d) An employee will be considered to be relieving when the employee is required by the Employer to leave their normal work and fill a position (a) to which the incumbent is expected to return or (b) which has become vacant and is open for bid. When an employee is absent or a position is vacant, there is no requirement for the Employer to replace the absent employee with another employee or to pay the relieving rate. Employees will not be considered to be relieving when they perform functions that fall within the duties and responsibilities of their classification.
8.04 e) The Employer may create temporary positions to meet operational requirements. Where employees are required to fill these positions for five (5) days or more, they will be paid in accordance with either Articles 8.04 (a) or (b) for all time spent relieving in that position. However, should the addition of 8% result in the maximum salary of the relieved position being exceeded, the employee shall receive the maximum salary of the relieved position.
8.04 b) When as a result of a request by the Corporation, an employee relieves or acts in a higher paying supervisory position for an accumulated period of time equal to or exceeding one half of the employee’s normal work day, the employee shall receive 10% on his or her regular pay for all hours spent in the position.
