Evaluation of Professional Development. XXXX Xxxxxxxx professional development is evaluated through surveys and through an evaluation of results tied to the specific professional development. Every year, XXXX Xxxxxxxx participates in the TNTP Insight Survey. This survey is designed to give leaders feedback on the most important aspects of the school, including culture and climate, instruction, and commitment to and alignment with core values. The survey is anonymous and administered twice per year. One area that is evaluated is the efficacy of professional development and the training that teachers receive. In addition, we provide teachers with surveys after each monthly professional-development day where they can share what they believe to be effective and areas for improvement. Another way we measure the efficacy of our professional development is by measuring impact with students. For example, we look to see if the sessions we are having on effective questioning, lesson planning, or any other topic are resulting in improvements on informal and formal assessments. We use the data from surveys and student academic progress to adjust professional development so that it is most responsive to the needs of our students and teachers. We review the change in Insight data over the course of the year to see that the changes and improvements that teachers suggested are implemented and that teachers and leaders are increasingly finding professional development and traininghighly effective.”
Evaluation of Professional Development. Time is the most precious resource at KIPP Journey Academy; all professional development must help—either directly or indirectly—drive student achievement. At the same time, all professional development must be presented in such a way that is meaningful and understandable to all teachers. KIPP Journey Academy will implement a rigorous, inclusive evaluation system for all professional development opportunities. For example, immediately following the conclusion of a professional development day, teachers will be provided with a survey of the effectiveness of each opportunity in which they participated. They will be asked to rate the session based upon its success in meeting its objectives, as well as its usefulness. Any sessions not rated above “effective” will either be drastically reworked or replaced with a more effective opportunity. Please note that KIPP Journey Academy teachers will have the opportunity to collaborate during a professional development day nearly once every month. On any given day, teachers also have the opportunity to collaborate directly before school, during student breakfast and while students are attending enrichment, and after school.
