Bereavement Leave a. In the event of the death of a member of an employee’s immediate family, the employee will, upon request, be granted a leave of absence with pay for up to a maximum period of three (3) working days to attend the funeral and/or to make funeral arrangements. Normally such period will be from the day after the day of death to the day of the funeral inclusive. In cases where the employee must travel a significant distance to attend the funeral or memorial service, up to two (2) additional days for travel may be provided, with pay in the Company’s sole discretion. Immediate family includes the employee’s spouse or common-law spouse and his/her natural children, adopted children, stepchildren, xxxxxx children, grandchildren, sister, sister-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, father, father-in-law, step-parent, grandmother, grandfather, grandmother-in-law and grandfather-in-law. b. In all instances, at the sole discretion and unreviewable discretion of the Company, bereavement leave may be extended or granted on an individual basis without setting a precedent for future cases. Such decisions shall not be open to review by an arbitrator. c. At the discretion of the Company, for the purpose of attending a funeral or memorial service held for a deceased close relative outside the immediate family or a close friend, employees may be eligible for up to one (1) day of paid bereavement leave. d. Employees must notify their supervisor as soon as possible of their need for bereavement leave and the dates that they will miss scheduled shifts as a result thereof. The Company reserves the right to require satisfactory documentation to establish the need for the leave prior to granting approval and pay for scheduled shifts missed.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • Paid Bereavement Leave 12.19.1 An Employee shall be granted a minimum of five (5) regularly scheduled consecutive work days, without loss of pay or benefits, in the case of death or serious illness of the Employee's spouse or common-law spouse.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively step-father, step-mother or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law partner residing with the employee), child (including child of common-law partner), step-child or xxxx of the employee, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, or mother-in-law, and any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer.

  • Bereavement A maximum of three (3) days earned sick leave may be used per occurrence for bereavement due to the death of persons in the immediate or extended family, as defined herein, or any relative who resided with the employee.

  • BEREAVEMENT PAY 22.01 The Employer agrees that in the event of a death in the immediate family, the Employer shall grant bereavement leave of three (3) consecutive calendar days with pay. This leave includes both working and non-working days.

  • LEAVES OF ABSENCE AND BEREAVEMENT PAY 21.01 The Employer may grant leaves of absence without pay, for a time mutually agreed upon between the Employer and the employee, for the following reasons:

  • Bereavement Days In the case of bereavement of immediate family (as defined in article IX.G.1 below), employees will be given three (3) days that do not count against personal or sick leave. Additional bereavement days taken will be deducted from sick leave.

  • Intermittent Leave If medically necessary due to the serious medical condition of the employee, or that of the employee's spouse, child, parent, registered domestic partner within the meaning of Minneapolis Code of Ordinances Chapter 142, or other dependents and/or members of their households who have a serious medical condition, leave may be taken on an intermittent schedule. In cases of the birth, adoption or xxxxxx placement of a child, family and medical leave may be taken intermittently only when expressly approved by the Employer.

  • Carer’s Leave An employee may use up to 10 days accrued sick days as carers leave to tend to the care for members of the employee’s immediate household. The leave will be subject to the employee providing reasonable proof of the need for the use of xxxxx’s leave. In circumstances where the employee has exhausted all of the paid leave, a further 2 days unpaid leave may be taken.
