When Sick Leave is Exhausted. Employees who use all their accumulated sick leave and require more time off due to illness or injury may, with their department head’s prior approval, use vacation, compensatory time, floating holiday or take leave without pay.

When Sick Leave is Exhausted. When the employee exhausts his sick leave, there shall be no advancement or borrowing of any type of leave from the employee’s own leave account. The employee may be authorized to use accrued annual leave, leave without pay, or request a medical leave of absence for periods of fourteen (14) days or more. The Sick Leave Bank in existence prior to this Agreement shall be continued. All employees of the unit shall be eligible for use of the sick leave bank when authorized and approved by the Sick Bank Committee. The decision to approve or disapprove use of time from the Fire Sick Leave Bank shall not be subject to the grievance and arbitration procedure. The Fire Chief and the Director of Human Resources (or designee) shall process personnel/payroll forms for sick leave bank use in accordance with the determination made by the Sick Bank Committee.
When Sick Leave is Exhausted. When an employee exhausts their sick leave, there shall be no advancement or borrowing of any type of leave. The employee may be authorized to use annual leave, absence without pay, and/or a medical leave of absence as provided in this Agreement. Employees shall be eligible for use of the sick leave bank in accordance with authorization of the Director of Human Resources.

  • Sick Leave Exhausted (a) After earned sick leave has been exhausted, the Agency shall grant sick leave without pay for any job-incurred injury or illness for a period which shall terminate upon demand by the employee for reinstatement accompanied by a certificate issued by the duly licensed attending physician that the employee is physically and/or mentally able to perform the duties of the position.

  • Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:

  • Sick Leave Payment Any employee, at his/her option may choose to receive payment for sick leave earned during the year which is unused at the end of the year. Any such payment must be for the total number of unused sick leave hours earned during the year, must be based on the hourly rate of pay of the employee multiplied by 50 percent, and all hours for which payment is received must be deducted from the employee’s accumulated leave balance. Sick leave used during a current year will be charged against the most recently earned sick leave. Hourly rate of pay is the hourly rate at the end of the contract year.

  • Sick Leave Pool a. The Sick Leave Pool is intended to provide security to supplement other insurance benefits by allowing employees to "buy" insurance for extended illness, or other disability. Pool Days may be used to "make an employee whole" if disability or Workers' Compensation benefits are less than normal base pay. When "buying" Pool Days, employees convert Earned Time days on a 1:3 basis. Similar to purchasing insurance, the employee may pick a given number of days to exchange for coverage in case of extended disability.

  • Pregnancy Sick Leave Leave for illness of a Nurse arising out of or associated with a Nurse’s pregnancy prior to the commencement of, or the ending of, pregnancy leave granted in accordance with Article 13.00, may be granted sick leave in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Agreement.

  • Sick Leave Credit-Based Retirement Gratuities 1) A Teacher is not eligible to receive a sick leave credit gratuity after August 31, 2012, except a sick leave credit gratuity that the Teacher had accumulated and was eligible to receive as of that day.

No sick leave hours may be converted which would reduce the calendar year end balance below four hundred eighty (480) hours. Monetary compensation shall be paid at the rate of twenty-five percent and shall be based on the employee’s current salary. All converted hours will be deducted from the sick leave balance. Employees who separate from University service due to retirement or death shall be compensated for the unused sick leave accumulation from the date of most recent hire in a leave eligible position with the State of Washington at the rate of 25%. Compensation shall be based upon the employee’s wage at the time of separation. For the purpose of this section, retirement shall not include vested out of service employees who leave funds on deposit with the retirement system. Former eligible employees who are re-employed within three (3) years of their separation from service shall be granted all unused sick leave credits, if any, to which they are entitled at time of separation.
