Overtime Policies. During our Lindsay contract negotiations, we had a great deal of discussion regarding the Company's overtime policies. Our agreements with labour unions have long recognized that the nature of business requires overtime operations at times. Reflecting the Company's view that excessive overtime is undesirable the standpoint of both the employee and the Company, this letter sets forth the policies that govern overtime operations in this Company. Employees who are required to work overtime should be given as much advance notice as is practicable so that they can make any personal that may be necessary. When less than a full complement of employees is needed, it is usually practicable for the Process Leader to excuse employees who do not wish to work and the overtime assignments to those employees who do wish to work. In situations where there are sufficient employees available who wish to work overtime and who are capable of doing the overtime work assignments, employees who do not wish to work overtime are to be excused from doing so, insofar as practicable. An individual employee's personal problems in with working overtime should be given careful consideration, and his individual needs should be recognized. The individual employee's request to be excused an overtime work assignment, when made a reasonable period of time in advance, should receive every possible consideration. When the employee's request is granted, he will be notified as far in advance as possible so that the employee can make his personal plans accordingly. Thereafter, any cancellation or change in arrangementsto excuse the employee will only be made with his consent. Very truly yours, GLASS OF CANADA By Vice President Labour Relations LABOUR NEGOTIATIONS September Xxxxx Xxxxx National Representative CAW-Canada Holiday Inn Ontario Dear Moses: This letter will confirm in writing the verbal understandings we agreed upon during the negotiations in Lindsay, Ontario.
