ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT PROBATIONARY PERIOD. All original appointments shall be tentative and subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) months of service. A written evaluation of the employee's adjustment to work tasks, conduct and other work rules, attendance, and job responsibilities will be conducted at or around the six (6) month from date of hire. Upon written agreement by the City and the Union, probation may be extended. Time spent on extended leave (leave greater than two (2) consecutive weeks) by the employee does not count towards the months of service required to complete the probationary period. Probation shall end only upon receipt of a satisfactory performance evaluation which shall not be delayed unreasonably. A probationary employee who has not received a written evaluation by the end of their twelve (12) month probationary period, shall notify the public works director in writing, who will respond within twenty- one (21) calendar days with a scheduled date for the evaluation. If no response is received within that time frame, the employee will be deemed to have completed probation. A step increase under Article 6.2.1 shall be retroactive to the employee's one (1) year anniversary date. The provisions of this paragraph shall only apply to new employees hired after the effective date of January 1, 2018.

ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT PROBATIONARY PERIOD. Persons from outside the commissioned service of the Police Department who are appointed to the Police Officer position classification (rank) must successfully complete an "original appointment probationary period". The original appointment probationary period for newly appointed Police Officers shall be fifteen (15) months, unless this probationary period is extended or terminated.

  • Initial Probationary Period An employee in an initial probationary period shall have no seniority until completion of his/her probationary period.   • Initial Appointment Upon initial appointment, a bargaining unit employee shall be issued a letter of offer, signed by the xxxx/director, citing specific terms and conditions of employment and his or her initial assignment of responsibilities. The University may enclose informational addenda, except that such addenda may not abridge the employee's rights or benefits provided in the BOT-UFF Agreement or BOT- UFF Policies. All academic year appointments for employees at a University shall begin on the same date. Two weeks prior to the beginning of classes each semester, the University shall send to the UFF Chapter a list of bargaining unit employees hired since the beginning of the previous semester, showing name; rank or title; department, college, program or employment unit; salary; and principal place of employment (campus). The initial letter of offer shall contain the following elements:

  • Probationary Periods Employees transferring to a different title will serve a six (6) calendar month probationary period. In the event the probationary period is not satisfactorily completed, the affected employee shall be returned to Job Bank assignment and the employee’s “bumping”, layoff or transfer rights under the Agreement or other applicable authority shall be restored to the same extent such rights existed prior to the employee taking the probationary position. Upon the affected employee’s first such return to the Job Bank, the employee shall be entitled to remain in the Job Bank for the greater of ten (10) business days, or the duration of the applicable Job Bank period, as determined under Article I, paragraph 2, that remained as of the date the employee began in the probationary position. The rate of compensation for the remainder of the employee’s time in the Job Bank will be the same as the rate in effect as of the employee’s last day in the probationary position. Return to the Job Bank terminates the employee’s work in the probationary assignment and, therefore, time served following the return to the Job Bank shall not be construed to count toward the completion of the probationary period.

  • Evaluation During the Probationary Period 1. At or about the time of the delivery of a probationary letter, the evaluator shall hold a personal conference with the probationary teacher to discuss performance deficiencies and the remedial measures to be taken.

  • Continuing Appointment A continuing appointment shall continue until retirement or until otherwise terminated pursuant to this Agreement.
