The "Original Appointments" clause defines the initial scheduling or designation of roles, positions, or services as set out at the start of an agreement or contract. Original Appointments. Original appointments to a position within the classified service shall be subject to a probationary period of no less than one (1) year. The probationary period may be extended with the approval of the City Manager for a period not to exceed an additional six (6) months. Failure to notify an employee in writing within one (1) year of his/her initial hire date regarding the employee’s permanent status or rejection/extension of probation will automatically result in the granting of permanent status.
Original Appointments. Original appointments to any position shall be made at the entrance rate of the classification, except that when deemed appropriate by the County, nurses who have nursing experience may receive credit for that experience when beginning employment as provided in Article 10, Section 2. It is within the sole discretion of the Employer to determine if credit will be given for experience. This determination shall take into consideration the recommendation of the applicable supervisor.
Original Appointments. All original appointments and hiring of new employees, shall be tentative and subject to a probationary period of not more than six (6) consecutive months from the date of initial employment, except that employees hired as less than half time will remain on probation for 1040 hours or one (1) year, whichever comes first from the hire date. In the event the probationary period is interrupted, it may be extended by the period of the interruption, but not to exceed twelve (12) months from the date of hire.

Original Appointments. A. Original appointment to any position shall be made at the entrance rate of the classification. Upon recommendation of the Sheriff, the Human Resources Director may approve initial compensation through Step 2 in the Salary Schedule when the needs for the service make such action necessary; provided that any such exception is based on the outstanding and unusual character of the individual employee’s experience and ability over and above the desirable qualifications specified for the class. Authorization for initial compensation above Step 2 must be obtained from the Administrative Services/Personnel Committee.
B. New employees who are compensated at the minimum rate in their salary grade shall advance to the next step of their salary grade at the beginning of the payroll period following their successful completion of one (1) year of continuous regular employment. New employees who are initially compensated at a rate above the minimum, shall not advance to the next step until the beginning of the payroll period following their successful completion of one (1) year of employment. Further advancement to the maximum rate within a salary range shall be by successive steps effective the payroll period following the employee’s anniversary date of continuous successful employment in that classification.
Original Appointments. The parties agree that original appointments to the position of Firefighter (EMT or Paramedic) shall be from eligibility lists as requested by the Fire & EMS Chief, and in accordance with applicable law.

Any person appointed to an authorized position in the Employee Compensation Plan shall complete a probationary period fixed by the Personnel Officer at the time of appointment of at least twelve (12) continuous months, but not more than eighteen (18) continuous months of service. When an applicant possesses exceptional qualifications warranting employment above the established minimum, the Department Director may authorize step 2 ofa higher salary within the appropriate pay range.
b.) Pay Stepsthat is higher than step 2the minimum of the pay grade must be approved by the Village Manager.
Original Appointments. Original appointments shall be subject to a probationary period of between six to twelve months. In the event an employee is off work for any reason for two or more weeks during the probationary period, then the probationary period will be extended by the amount of time that employee is away from work.
