Forward and Return Journeys. For employees traveling to a distant work site, the Company provide travel associated with the Forward and Return Journeys. Forward and Return Journey If Travelling by air: • Forward Journey: All distant workers will be paid a full 8 hours to travel to site on the Monday after R&R. 8 hours is the maximum payment for all distant workers, regardless of the actual time taken to travel to site. This will not be treated as a standard working shift for the purpose of calculating overtime. Allowances will not be paid on travel days, however all leave entitlements will accrue (including annual leave and RDO time). All reasonable taxi fares will be reimbursed with a receipt. • Return Journey: Thursday shall be a designated travel day and will not be included as part of a standard working shift for the purpose of calculating overtime. Allowances will not be paid on travel days, however all leave entitlements will accrue (including annual leave and RDO time). Travel time will be paid for 8 hours per day provided that the employee travels on a Thursday. By agreement with the Employer, the Employee may work on the travel day before travelling home the same day. In this case, the employee would be paid for the hours worked plus the agreed travel rate. All reasonable taxi fares will be reimbursed with a receipt. Where an employee requests to use a personal vehicle, in lieu of air travel (where air travel is available) they shall be paid for the equivalent travel time as if they had travelled by air and may seek reimbursement for fuel and accommodation upon receipt, up to the value of the relevant economy airfare. The Employee shall be responsible for taking adequate rest breaks when undertaking any extended journey. Forward Journey only Where an employee terminates or discontinues employment within 2 weeks of commencing on the job and does not immediately return to the place of engagement, the employer may deduct the cost of the forward journey fare from their final payment.   • Education Leave Without Pay I. The Employer recognizes the usefulness of education leave. Upon written application by the employee and with the approval of the Employer, an employee may be granted education leave without pay for varying periods of up to one (1) year, which can be renewed by mutual agreement, to attend a recognized institution for studies in some field of education in which preparation is needed to fill the employee’s present role more adequately or to undertake studies in some field in order to provide a service which the Employer requires or is planning to provide.

  • Early Return From Leave If the amount of leave needed is actually less than initially requested, the employee must notify the District of such an occurrence. Once the employee provides such notification, the District must reinstate the employee to the same or equivalent position within two (2) days.

  • Job Opportunities Section 1: Temporary Assignments Unforeseen circumstances may arise on a shift, which would require an Employee to be temporarily assigned to work other than that he would normally perform. Should such circumstances arise, the Company shall first canvass for volunteers from those employees who are able to perform the work. Should there be more volunteers than are needed, the Company shall assign the work to the volunteer with the highest seniority. Should there be no volunteers; the Company shall assign the work to the lowest seniority employee able to perform the work. Temporary Assignments may be filled according to the process set out in this Article for a period of up to forty-five (45) days. Thereafter, the Temporary Assignment will be posted on a plant wide basis and made available to the most senior employee able to perform the work. In the event that the Temporary Assignment is going to exceed forty-five (45) days, and this fact is known at the time the vacancy first becomes available, the Company will post the Temporary Assignment in accordance with Section 2 at the time the Temporary Assignment first becomes available. If an Employee is temporarily required to fill a higher paid job, the Employee will receive the higher rate of pay for all hours spent performing the job, if he or she performs the job in excess of two (2) hours per shift. If an Employee is temporarily required to fill a lower paid job, his or her rate of pay shall not be reduced. In the event additional temporary assignments are required, the job will be filled in accordance with the process provided above. Subsequent to the completion of a Temporary Assignment, an Employee will be returned to his or her previous position, subject to seniority considerations.

  • Bonuses Executive shall be entitled to participate in discretionary bonuses or other incentive compensation programs that the Company and the Bank may award from time to time to senior management employees pursuant to bonus plans or otherwise.
