Electric Vehicle Charging. The Developer agrees that a 240V outlet shall be installed in each garage associated with the Total Dwelling Units. Accordingly, evidence satisfactory to the City of the installation in each garage of a 240V outlet must be provided to the City for each of the Total Dwelling Units before the City is required to issue a certificate of occupancy for such dwelling unit. In addition, Developer shall install electric vehicle charging stations providing at least six (6) charging-enabled parking spaces within the Property. Accordingly, evidence satisfactory to the City that such electrical vehicle charging stations shall be installed must be provided to the City before the City is required to issue any building permit that will authorize the construction of more than two hundred twenty-one (221) of the Total Dwelling Units.
Electric Vehicle Charging. The EV charge points will comprise of domestic households (scenario 1) and local tourism sites and accommodation (scenario 2) within Zone 1, that either have an EV that they currently charge at home, or a business/ facility that would benefit from being able to offer EV charging to customers/ visitors. Some of the advantages of this dual approach are that it allows two independent but interlinked DSM systems to be demonstrated interacting and being coordinated to the same generation ANM system. With scenario 1, where considerable intelligence can be gathered on the patterns of charging and vehicle use, DSM curtailment response can be refined with predictive knowledge and learning algorithms in this situation. Whilst in parallel, DSM installations in scenario 2 can be best tested and shown to be robust, compatible and effective whilst being agnostic to the connected vehicle technologies and use patterns. The specific detail of types of vehicles and quantities recruited in each scenario will depend to some degree on the uptake of participants (car type, charger type) and their existing or preferred charging methods. Where existing chargers are not able to be adapted to make smart connections, these could be upgraded under the scope of the SMILE project if budget allows and new controlled charge points will be installed in places where no charging is currently in place.
Electric Vehicle Charging. The following section outlines the two EV charging scenarios as part of the Orkney-based SMILE demonstrator; the charging of homeowner’s EV(s), and the charging of visitor EVs. This will include an overview of the systems, the technologies involved and the power and data connectivity.

Electric Vehicle Charging. Six parking spaces within the parking deck shall be dedicated for electric vehicle charging, with stations installed. Conduit to serve at least 20 percent of the parking spaces in the parking deck for future electric vehicle charging stations shall be installed prior to issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy.
Electric Vehicle Charging. 11.1. For the purpose of these Terms, an Electric Vehicle “EV” is any vehicle that uses electric motors, either fully or partially, to drive its wheels. It will derive some or all its power from rechargeable batteries, which require a connection to the electricity grid (plug-in). This includes fully chargeable and plug-in hybrid cars, motorbikes, buggies, scooters, mopeds, bicycles, utility vehicles and tracked vehicles.

Electric Vehicle Charging. The use case addresses the particular needs of electricity vehicle charging. Three typical scenarios are considered; charging at the home; charging in an apartment complex; charging in a commercial complex. For each of these there are corresponding minor charge cycle scenarios; short duration boost charge; medium duration half charge; long duration slow charge. The residential case considers a lightly populated urban environment with a low density of electric vehicles. The charging of vehicles then assumes that the load can be accommodated by the distribution network without the need for coordination with other charging stations. However, in use cases where electric vehicle owners cluster their charging this may result in excessive transformer loading. Similarly, where fast chargers are deployed, this will further increase transformer loading; both of the alternative residential scenarios necessitate coordination amongst charging stations. The apartment complex case is a medium-high density urban environment with a corresponding density of vehicles. The charging of vehicles is assumed to occur over the same period, most likely during off peak periods, overnight or at weekends, necessitating some coordination amongst the vehicles on charge to assure that the distribution network capacity is not exceeded. In the commercial complex case multiple simultaneous users must be accommodated to assure that an adequate charge of the vehicles is achieved in the time available which may vary from a short interval, say half an hour, to an eight hour charge. In contrast with the apartment scenario the commercial case will involve charging of vehicles during peak and off-peak periods. The associated minor charge cycles cover a short duration 30 minute boost cycle to accommodate an anticipated need for a limited capacity charge to accommodate a round trip of, say, 25km. The medium term charge may be required within two hours to permit a round trip of 40 km. In both of these cases the tariff will be of less consideration to the consumer who has a time sensitive need. The overnight slow charge would assure a full charge with a charge cycle optimized to use low tariff electricity. During a charging cycle and depending on the installation, 20 amps single phase to 100amps three phase per connection point may be draw from the power network. In the medium and high density scenarios described above this may stress the supply network. In order to minimize the adverse effects of pea...
