Documentation of a Formal Grievance. A grievance must be reduced to writing and submitted by the AAPSPA or an individual supervisor to the individual indicated in each step of the grievance procedure. That individual shall sign the grievance, indicating the time and date received, and provide a copy of the grievance to the member submitting the grievance. The written grievance must include: 1) a list of the article(s) allegedly violated, 2) a statement of the facts causing the alleged violation(s) and 3) the remedy(s) to resolve the grievance. If AAPSPA elects not to pursue a grievance, an individual member may choose to pursue their own grievance. Under these circumstances, the individual member may only pursue the grievance through Step 3, as AAPSPA is the only party with the authority to advance a grievance to mediation or arbitration. An individual member pursuing their own grievance must still observe all time frames as indicated in this Article.
