Definition Part Time Employee. A part-time employee is one who works on a regular and continuing basis for less than the full prescribed hours as specified in Article 18, however with a minimum guarantee of twenty-four (24) shifts in a sixteen (16) week cycle. Such shift guarantee does not preclude the lay-off or termination of a part-time employee subject to applicable Collective Agreement provisions. Part-time employees will be assigned to a specific platoon. All part-time employees will be required to possess the same qualifications as full-time employees and shall work within the same standards and scope of practice, where applicable, as full-time employees as determined by the Service.
