Class Cancellation/Reassignment Rights. The Xxxx/Director responsible for the area may decide to replace an Adjunct Bargaining Unit Member as the instructor for a course with a full time faculty member if a full time faculty member needs a course to make the minimum Fall or Spring semester base load of 15 contact hours or 12 contact hours for full time faculty teaching three (3) and or four (4) sections of rhetoric/writing courses (English 101, 102, 120, 130, 230); or journalism (Journalism 102, Editing and Production, as well as Journalism 201, News Reporting and Writing). On or after July 15 for the Fall Semester, December 15 for the Spring Semester, and April 15 for the Summer Semester, only the Xxxx/Director responsible for the area may decide that an Adjunct Bargaining Unit Member assigned to teach one or more courses for those Semesters respectively, may be replaced in one or more courses by a full time faculty member. If an Adjunct Bargaining Unit Member that is assigned a course is replaced as the instructor of that course by a full time faculty instructor, the Xxxx/Director responsible for the area will send the Union President the following written information (by email is preferred): the name of the adjunct instructor, the course name, the course number, the section number, the name of the full time instructor replacing the adjunct, and the reason why the adjunct needed to be replaced as the course instructor. The College shall advise an Adjunct Faculty member as soon as possible if their assigned class is canceled or withdrawn. In the event that an assignment is canceled or withdrawn, a Bargaining Unit Member shall be entitled to claim an unassigned course that they are qualified to teach. If no unassigned course is available, the Bargaining Unit Member shall be entitled to claim the course of a non-bargaining unit Adjunct Faculty member that the affected adjunct is qualified to teach. The College recognizes that classes assigned but then withdrawn from an Adjunct Faculty member may be classes for which the Adjunct Faculty member has prepared. Therefore, if within five (5) calendar days or fewer before the first day of the class an Adjunct Faculty member's assigned class is cancelled or is reassigned to a full- time faculty member who is in need of a class to complete a base load, and if a replacement class is not offered, the College will pay a one hundred dollar ($100) stipend for the withdrawn class. Class Cancellation/Reassignment Rights. The College shall advise an Adjunct Faculty Member if his/her assigned class, in a reasonable amount of time, is canceled or reassigned to a full-time faculty member. In the event that an assignment is canceled or withdrawn, an Adjunct Faculty Member shall be entitled to claim an unassigned course that he/her is qualified to teach. The College shall notify the Adjunct if the class being offered is a contingency (Waiting) course at the time it is offered. The College recognizes that classes assigned but then withdrawn from an Adjunct Faculty Member may be classes for which the Adjunct Faculty Member has prepared. Therefore, if within five (5) calendar days or fewer before the first day of the class an Adjunct Faculty Member's assigned class is cancelled or is reassigned to a full-time faculty member who is in need of a class to complete a full load, and if a replacement class is not offered to the Adjunct, the College will pay a two hundred ($200.00) dollar stipend for the withdrawn class. The College will notify the Union via its President or designee when it cancels a class of an Adjunct Faculty Member.
