Union Officers/Delegates. The Union shall have the right to designate officers, delegates, and alternate delegates from among member employees in the bargaining unit. Such employees may investigate circumstances of grievances under the agreement within the hospital during release time without pay and may contact other employees briefly during their on-duty hours pursuant to the investigation. The Union will advise the Employer of all elected union representatives, their terms of office, and alternates. Subject to appropriate advance notice and scheduling requirements, Union Officers, Delegates and Contract Committee members may use one (1) day per calendar year of their education leave/professional leave time to attend union-sponsored training in leadership, representation and dispute resolution.

  • Union Officers Employees hereafter elected or appointed to full­ time Union office shall be granted a leave of absence without loss of sen­ iority but without accumulating seniority during the period of the leave of absence.

  • Union Officers and Committee Members Union Officers and Committee Members shall be entitled to leave their work during working hours in order to carry out their functions under this Agreement, including, but not limited to, the investigation and processing of grievances, attendance at meetings with the Employer, participation in negotiations and arbitration. Permission to leave work during working hours for such purposes shall first be obtained from the immediate supervisor. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld.   • Union Office Upon application by the Union, in writing, the Hospital will give reasonable consideration to a request for leave of absence, without pay, to an employee elected or appointed to full-time Union office. It is understood that not more than one (1) employee in the bargaining unit may be on such leave at the same time. Such leave, if granted, shall be for a period of one (1) calendar year (in the case of the Union President, two (2) calendar years) from the date of appointment unless extended for a further specific period by agreement of the parties. Seniority and service shall accumulate during such leave to the maximum provided, if any, under the provisions of the Collective Agreement. It will become the responsibility of the employee for full payment of any applicable benefits in which the employee is participating during such leave of absence.
