Section 6.8. Overtime Clause Samples

Section 6.8. Overtime defines the rules and conditions under which employees are eligible for overtime pay. Typically, this clause outlines the threshold of hours worked beyond the standard workweek that qualify as overtime, the applicable overtime pay rate (such as time-and-a-half), and any necessary approvals or reporting procedures. Its core function is to ensure fair compensation for extra work and to provide clear guidelines for both employers and employees regarding overtime eligibility and payment, thereby reducing disputes and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
Section 6.8. Overtime. Any hours worked in excess of the employee’s regularly scheduled time period must be approved by the 8 Superintendent. 10 Employees who work overtime, that is, hours beyond forty (40) hours per workweek, will be paid at the 11 rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the regular wage for each hour of overtime worked, or if the 12 employee chooses, he/she may take compensatory time at the same rate, according to Fair Labor 13 Standards Act regulations.
Section 6.8. Overtime. 44 Overtime is defined as being one and one-half (1½) times the employee's regular hourly rate of pay.
Section 6.8. Overtime. 34 All hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours in one week (Monday-Sunday), shall be compensated at 35 the rate of one and one-half (1½) times the employee's base pay. All extra assigned work on Saturday 36 shall be compensated at one and one-half (1½ ) times the employee’s base pay. All extra assigned 37 work on Sunday shall be compensated at two (2) times the employee’s base pay.
Section 6.8. Overtime. 44 All hours of work subject to overtime rates of pay shall be approved, in advance, by the District 45 Superintendent or designee.
Section 6.8. Overtime. 2 Overtime rate is defined as being one and one-half (1 ½) times the employee’s regular hourly rate of 3 pay. Holiday, vacation and sick leave hours will be considered hours worked for the purpose of the 4 computation of overtime.
Section 6.8. Overtime. 40 All time in excess of forty (40) hours worked per week shall be paid at one and one-half (1½) times the 41 regular rate of the employee's salary. Employees, who normally work forty (40) hours per week and 42 receive holiday pay or take paid leave days during that week, have the right to refuse to work additional 43 hours during that week unless the employee receives the overtime rate. 44
