Salary Step After Promotion. When a worker is promoted from a position in one class to a position in a higher class and at the time of promotion is receiving a base salary equal to, or greater than, the minimum base rate for the higher class, that worker shall be entitled to the next step in the salary schedule of the higher class which is at least one step above the rate he/she has been receiving, except that the next step shall not exceed the maximum salary of the higher class.

Salary Step After Promotion. A regular employee who is promoted to a position in a class with a higher salary range from which he or she was promoted shall be appointed to the step in the higher salary range which will result in an increase of at least five percent (5%) in such employee’s salary; provided that in no event shall the new salary be higher than the maximum of the salary rate of the class to which the employee is promoted. Such salary increase shall be effective as of the date upon which the promotion is effective. For the purpose of further step increases within the new salary range, the employee’s salary range eligibility date will be changed, pursuant to Section 4.04, to the first day of the pay period following the day the promotion was effective, unless the promotion is effective as of the first working day of the pay period, in which case the employee’s new salary eligibility shall be the first day of the pay period in which he or she is promoted.
