- BIDDING WITHIN THE SAME EMPLOYEE GROUP. In filling a vacant position, the employer will offer the position to the most senior employee, within the same employee group as the vacancy, who has applied for the position provided the employee has been determined by the employer to be capable of successfully performing the job and possesses any required license or certification. Factors in determining an employee's qualifications shall include, but not be limited to the ability to perform work according to established standards, the possession of any required license or certification, the ability to work in cooperation with fellow employees, students and the general public, and regular attendance on the job. For purposes of bidding, the employee groups shall be as follows: ⮚ Transportation Mechanic ⮚ Bus DriverMaintenance Specialist ⮚ Groundskeeper ⮚ Custodian I and District Delivery ⮚ Engineer ⮚ Secretary I and II ⮚ Cook, Food Service Worker, Head Cashier, Cashier (unit members who are in the cashier position as of the effective May 1, 1997, will be grandfathered in at their present rate of pay and will continue to be paid on the cashier salary schedule. As unit members leave the employ of the district, the cashier position will be phased out and individuals hired to do this work will be hired as Food Service Workers). ⮚ Teacher Aide, Cafeteria/Playground Aide, Special Education Aide, Bus Aide and Library Aide (unit members who are in the Library Aide Position as of the effective May 1, 1997, will be grandfathered in at their present rate of pay on the Secretary II pay scale and will continue to be paid on this schedule. As unit members leave the employ of the district, new hires into the Library Aide position will be paid on the Aide salary schedule). The awarding of Building Secretary positions will require approval of the appropriate administrator.

This procedure will apply to bus route assignments. However, distance between the employee's home and the bus route will also be a factor governing the Board's decision. For example, assignments will not be made to driver whose home is a great distance from the route's first pickup.

  • Effective January A member who is medically unfit for duty at the time commencement scheduled vacation as a result of an injury or illness 1) compensable under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and in receipt of benefits from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board or 2) for which medical documentationhas been provided and which has resulted in an approved medical leave or unfit for regular duties each for days or more, shall be entitled to reschedule his vacation, provided the vacation as rescheduled is taken before December of the calendar year in which the injury occurred, or December of that year if approved by the Chief of Police, such approval not to be unreasonably withheld. If the member remains medically unfit for duty such that the rescheduled time is not taken by December as aforesaid, the member shall be entitled to choose to either (1) receive in the first pay period of the following calendar year an equal to the salary he would normally receive in respect of the vacation time not taken or (2) carry over the vacation to the following year, to be scheduled as approved by the or his designate. In the event that the member chooses to carry over the vacation to the following year, the time must be taken prior to the end of the following calendar year. In the event that the carried-over is not taken prior to the end of the following calendar year, the member shall receive a payout at the salary rate applicable when the vacation time was earned. It is understood and agreed that regardless of seniority, no scheduling of any carried over vacation time will result in any member's scheduled vacation being cancelled or bumped. A member who is on suspension, either paid or unpaid, at the time of the commencement of his scheduled vacation, shall not be required to report in for the period of his scheduled vacation. A member who is on suspension, either paid or unpaid, and who has not scheduled his vacation for the year shall do so as soon as requested and, once such vacation time is approved, shall not be required to report in during the scheduled vacation time.

  • Seasonal Employees Seasonal employees still on trial service should refer to Article 71, Sections 2 and 3 regarding salary increases.
