Customary maintenance definition

Customary maintenance means maintenance of a nonconforming outdoor advertising device, which may include, but shall not exceed, the replacement of the sign face and stringers in like materials, and the replacement in like materials of up to fifty percent (50%) of the device's poles, posts, or other support structures; provided, that the replacement of any poles, posts, or other support structures is limited to one (1) time within a twenty-four-month period;
Customary maintenance means the action necessary to keep a sign in good condition by (1) replacement of parts damaged or worn by age and (2) painting of areas exposed to the weather as the major portion of the sign, but shall not include either maintenance which would be necessary for signs over 50% damaged (except Act of God circumstances) or in 50% disrepair or maintenance which would increase the size or monetary value of the sign.
Customary maintenance shall include, but is not limited to, the removal of trash, mowing, proper planting of grass, trimming of trees and bushes, and related and similar activities.
