The children have a voice to express their interests and feel impowered to do so. For example, some children were very interested in jewelry making and now we have the supplies for them to be able to engage in jewelry making. Another example is the many interests in growing some of our own vegetables and fruits for our snack. The children enjoy working in the dirt planting and care for their garden. We regularly have what we call " discussion time" (during our group time as noted in our daily schedule) where the children talk about many things, and in particular can express their thoughts of the teacher directed activities and if they would be interested in continuing, repeating, or discontinuing that specific project.
