Term of Eligibility. Insurance coverage for those eligible shall begin when an employee has completed his/her probationary period. The insurance premium will cease to be paid when the person quits or for some reason is no longer an employee. Insurance coverage ends on the effective date of retirement because the member is then eligible for the retirement system insurance.

Term of Eligibility. Each current active employee is eligible for health benefits under this contract upon award and thereafter during the performance period of this contract. Each new employee will be eligible upon entering on duty with the United States Government. Participating children who reach 21 or 23 will be covered until the end of the contract year in which they reach 21 or 23. Participation in the health-care program is voluntary: each eligible employee and/or dependent may not participate in this program at their own decision. However, they may be given another opportunity to enroll at a future date. Every year the Government will update the list of eligible participants of the contract. There is no age limit for an eligible child who is physically or mentally handicapped so as to be unable to live independently. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and other relatives are not eligible dependents.
