SFA Phasing Plan Implementation Sample Clauses

SFA Phasing Plan Implementation. Jacobs’ original mechanical system design was based upon the understanding that the campus chilled water piping would be installed and operational in conjunction with the CUP project, and that construction of the CUP would be prioritized over the renovations of the SFA chiller plant. As such it was anticipated that the plant and distribution system would be tested and brought online at the same time to support service to the new and existing buildings. Based on changes to the overall construction schedule for the other projects, it will become necessary to continue the use of the temporary chilled water piping truss bridging across Congress Street in conjunction with operation of the CUP and renovated SFA plant. Construction of the SFA plant renovations was prioritized as well. The interim mode of operation proposed by the contractor directly connects the three existing buildings to the distribution system, deferring the installation of the decoupling heat exchangers. As such, Jacobs was requested to review the operational phasing plan proposed by the contractor to determine operability and evaluate the hydraulic and hydrostatic impacts for this interim mode of operation (use of the temporary pipe truss). Jacobs developed a hydraulic model to evaluate flowrates and allowable system pressures for acceptability and DocuSign Envelope ID: 42DC06DB-C071-44AC-A530-2F1BCDA88F15 Texas Facilities Commission Capitol Complex Package 3 – CUP and Tunnel Additional Services Proposal 2 July 29, 2020 determine the acceptability of the distribution pumps to accommodate the interim mode of operation. This plan was contingent on utilizing Grundfos pumps in lieu of Xxxxxxxxx pumps in SFA and, as a result, changed the selection in the CUP as well. Jacobs analyzed and is making made modifications to the CUP piping and support scheme, and Structural will modify the auxiliary steel to account for this change. The mechanical evaluation of the contractor proposed phasing plan is documented for record purposes, but no additional compensation is requested for the mechanical work described herein. Another consequence of the proposed phasing plan requires larger (higher horsepower) pumps in order to overcome the pressure restrictions associated with the use of the temporary piping bridge. Jacobs will evaluate and confirm a design upgrade that accommodates the temporary and permanent electrical service for the larger SFA distribution pumps. Findings from the assessment of the proposed c...
