Purpose Eligibility. Sick Leave with pay is available to eligible employees for periods of temporary absences due to illness, injuries or medical appointments of the employee or his/her immediate family. The immediate family, for purposes of sick leave, is defined as the employee’s spouse, parent, child, sibling; the employee’s spouse’s parent, child or sibling; the employee’s child’s spouse, grandparents or grandchildren. Regular part-time employees are eligible for sick leave on a pro-rata basis. Temporary employees do not accrue sick leave.
