Maximum value of salary package Sample Clauses

Maximum value of salary package. An employee may salary package up to 30% of his or her gross total ordinary wage for benefits that do not include additional superannuation. Where an employee’s salary packaging arrangements include additional superannuation, the employee may salary package up to 50% of his or her gross total ordinary wage, provided that the amount packaged for benefits other than additional superannuation does not exceed 30% of his or her gross ordinary wage. An employee may only salary package from his or her ordinary wage. If an employee’s gross ordinary wage is insufficient to cover the benefits provided in the package (such as when an employee takes unpaid leave or is in receipt of income maintenance instead of wages), the salary packaging arrangement may be suspended or terminated. Example Xxxx is classified as a Level 2 Skilled Worker and his total ordinary wage is $605.00 per week. He wishes to salary package a laptop computer. The maximum Xxxx can salary package is $181.50 per week (30% of $605.00). Example Xxxx is classified as a Level 7 Production Setter. She receives an over-base payment of $50, so her total ordinary wage is $820 per week (base wage $770 + over-base $50 = $820). Xxxx enters into a salary packaging arrangement to pay an extra $200.00 per week into superannuation. Xxxx also wants to salary package a laptop computer. The maximum package of non-superannuation benefits for Xxxx is $246.00 (30% of $820.00). However, the maximum total package value for Xxxx is $410.00 per week (50% of $820.00). Therefore, if Xxxx continues to package $200.00 into superannuation, the most she can package for her laptop computer is $210.00 per week.
