General Requirements for Piping. All piping required shall be designed and installed to obtain optimum operating conditions, and shall be compatible with the machinery or equipment serviced, including pressure, volume and temperature requirements. All piping, valves and fittings shall comply with material specifications of the design standards for that particular service. New piping added to or replacing an existing system shall duplicate that system, both in size, material, and routing, unless otherwise specified. New piping, where installed in coordination with new equipment or machinery, shall be installed in a manner that does not adversely impact personnel with tripping or overhead hazards. New fuel oil, lube oil, or hydraulic piping shall be seamless steel, Schedule 80, to match existing pipe material. Pipe shall be pickled prior to installation. Seamless stainless steel tubing may be used as appropriate in Hydraulic systems. New raw, jacket or sanitary water piping shall be with 90-10 copper-nickel, Schedule 80. New drain piping shall be replaced in kind. Piping shall be led directly as per existing application. The finished installation shall include the pipe, valves, unions, elbows, reducers, tees and fittings and all necessary subparts. Unions and flanges shall be required to facilitate installation and subsequent removal. High-pressure flanges shall be used where originally provided. Flexible connections to machinery components shall be required where vibration may be anticipated. Piping shall not pass over switchboards and be kept clear of switchgear, wiring, etc. All work shall be templated from the vessel. Piping shall be secured by supports and hangers to avoid excessive strains; avoid the weight of the piping being transmitted to valves and fittings; minimize the effects of vibration, shock, pitching and rolling of the vessel; and permit proper thermal expansion and contraction. Provision may be made for expansion and contraction by changes in direction of pipe runs or by use of expansion bends, joints, loops or offsets. Galvanizing destroyed by welding or other activity shall be restored to original. All new steel galvanized pipe shall be hot dipped galvanized. All burrs shall be removed from the ends of all piping after any cutting or threading. Pipe ends shall be dressed with a reamer before installation. Valve type shall be consistent with the service. All valve materials shall match existing. New valves shall be approved by the COR. All valves are to be pressure-teste...

General Requirements for Piping. Piping systems shall be manufactured and installed in accordance with internationally recognized standards. Piping, joint details, coatings and linings for buried and exposed laying conditions shall be in accordance with the specification schedule, unless modifications are approved by the Employer’s Representative. Lengths of XX xxxxx shall vary from 9 to 12m. Lengths ranging from 4 to 9 m may be accepted by the Employer’s Representative. Lengths of DI pipes being supplied by the Employer shall be 5.5 m or 6 x. Xxxxxxx lengths shall only be used for transitioning to structures, valves, meters, etc. All connections to valves shall be flanged for exposed or buried piping systems.
