For Part Time Employees Probationary Period. Employees in Category 'A' shall be considered to be on probation for the first hours of work or months from their last date of hire, whichever occurs first. Employees in Category shall be considered to be on probation for their first hours of work or months from their last date of hiring, whichever occurs first. During the probationary period, employees may be terminated at any time without recourse to the grievance or arbitration procedure. Upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period an employee will then acquire seniority standing dating from the date he commenced his current period of employment. It is understood that an employee whose status changes from the full-time to part-time or vice-versa shall have any time worked in previous status, since their most recent date of hire in the bargaining unit counted towards the requirements of the probationary period in new status.

  • Part-Time Employment (a) A part-time employee is an employee who is engaged to work less than full-time hours of an average of 38 hours per week and has reasonably predictable hours of work.

  • Cyclic Year Employment The Employer may fill a position with a cyclic year appointment for positions scheduled to work less than twelve (12) full months each year, due to known, recurring periods in the annual cycle when the position is not needed. At least fifteen (15) days before the start of each annual cycle, incumbents of cyclic year positions will be informed, in writing, of their scheduled periods of leave without pay in the ensuing cycle. Such periods of leave without pay will not constitute a break in service.   • Probationary Period A new employee will be considered on probation until he has completed forty-five (45) days of work (or 337.5 hours of work for employees whose regular hours of work are other than the standard work day), within any twelve (12) calendar months. Upon completion of the probationary period he shall be credited with seniority equal to forty-five (45) working days.
