Definitions of Employment Categories. There are two main categories of academic employees, based on major function assignments. Instructional academic employees’ major function is classroom teaching. Non-instructional academic employees’, including academic advisors, counselors and librarians, major function is to provide essential support services for students. All academic employee appointments shall be consistent with the following categories: tenured, probationary, temporary, associate and affiliate.

Definitions of Employment Categories. For purposes of this Agreement, the following employment categories shall exist: Full-Status Employee: A full-status employee shall be defined as one whose actual assigned work year is at least 170 days and at least 30 hours per week. Part-Time Employee: A part-time employee shall be defined as one who normally works less than 170 days per year and/or less than 30 hours per week. However, if the District reduces the number of student contact days below 170 days, the change will not impact those employees that are currently eligible for benefits.
