Classification and Department Seniority. Classification seniority shall be based on the length of service with the company in the employee's current classification from the date of commencing work in said classification. Subject to the other applicable provisions of this agreement, classification seniority in the department shall apply to reduction in working hours, selection of available days off, selection of available shifts, temporary transfers to a higher paid job, lay- off and recall, choice of overtime and filling of vacancies and vacation requests. The most senior employees in each classification will be given the most hours up to 40 hours per week from most senior to most junior. Schedules will reflect the needs of the business. Departmental seniority shall be based on the length of service with the company in the employee's current department from the date of commencing work in said department.

  • Department Seniority Department seniority is defined as continuous length of service in calendar days within the employee’s department and where applicable, shall be used for internal department processes, such as vacation and schedule bids.

  • Department of Health and Human Services An employee notified of a positive controlled substance or alcohol test result may request an independent test of their split sample at the employee’s expense. If the test result is negative, the Employer will reimburse the employee for the cost of the split sample test. An employee who has a positive alcohol test and/or a positive controlled substance test may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal, based on the incident that prompted the testing, including a violation of the drug and alcohol free work place rules.

  • Equal Seniority If two (2) or more employees subject to layoff have equal class seniority, the determination as to who shall be laid off will be made on the basis of the greater hire date seniority, and if that be equal, then the determination shall be made by lot.
