Casual Sickness. Casual sickness" refers to a period of up to five consecutive working days during which a Member is absent from assigned duties because of illness or injury. The College may, at its own expense, require a written statement from a medical practitioner certifying that any such absence is medically warranted. Up to three of these 20 eligible days for Casual Sickness Leave in any fiscal year may be used without loss of pay or benefits in the event of illness or hospitalization of an immediate family member including parent, spouse (including common-law and same-gender partner), child, or others, where arrangements or care cannot be provided by another family member and the Member is the primary caregiver.
