This will help to avoid it sliding off of your books and dropping. • Transport Chromebook with care. • Chromebook lids should always be closed and tightly secured when moving. • Do not carry your Chromebook while the screen is open. • Never move a Chromebook by lifting from the screen. Always support a Chromebook from its bottom with lid closed.
Carrying Chromebooks. No other items should be stored or carried within the chromebook to avoid pressure and weight on the screen. • During passing periods, students should have the chromebook screens closed, and should carry the chromebooks with care.

Carrying Chromebooks. By providing a protective, padded cover, you will protect the Chromebook from normal treatment and provide a suitable means for carrying the device within the school. It is recommended that the Chromebook be protected by a cover. Nylon drawstring bags are insufficient protection for the Chromebooks, and should not be used. Using a Chromebook at School ● Chromebooks are intended for use at school each day. In addition to teacher expectations for Chromebook use, school messages, announcements, calendars, and schedules may be accessed using the Chromebook. Students are responsible for bringing their Chromebook to all classes unless specifically instructed not to do so by a teacher.
Carrying Chromebooks. The Chromebooks have a handle and provide a suitable means for carrying the device within the school. The guidelines below should be followed: • Chromebooks should always be carried by the handle or placed in a protective case when transporting. • Students are allowed to use his/her own carrying case, but it should be approved for use by administration or technology support staff to ensure that it has proper padding etc. to protect the school issued device.

The following guidelines should be followed: ● iPads should be carried with both hands while transitioning through the hallways. ● iPads should not be placed in backpacks during transition. The only time it should be in a backpack is during travel to and from school. Screen Care: The iPad screen can be damaged if subjected to rough treatment. The screens are sensitive to damage from excessive pressure. ● Do not place anything near the iPad that could put pressure on the screen. ● Avoid dropping the iPad. ● Do not place anything in the carrying case that will press against the cover. ● Clean the screen only with a soft, dry cloth. ● Do not use Windex or other harsh chemicals to clean the screen. Doing so will strip off the matte layer. Applications and Extensions on iPads The applications originally installed by Courtenay Language Arts Center must remain on the iPad and accessible at all times. The school has loaded applications needed for instruction. During the year, the school may add additional applications. Inappropriate Content Inappropriate content will not be allowed on the iPads as it appears in any saved images on the hard drive, background images, screen savers, and avatars. This includes: the presence of weapons; pornographic materials; inappropriate language; alcohol, drugs, and/or gang related symbols or pictures per the Student Code of Conduct. Inspection iPads will be physically inspected at random to ensure that all parts are in working condition. Sound Sound will be muted at all times unless permission is obtained from the teacher for instructional purposes. Students will be responsible for providing their own headphones to use with the iPads. Deleting/Moving Files Students should not delete or move any software applications, folders or files that they did not create or that they do not recognize. Deletion of certain files or applications will result in the student’s inability to complete class work.
