Year of Eligibility Service definition

Year of Eligibility Service means where an Employer designates a one or two 12-consecutive-month eligibility waiting period, an Employee must complete at least 1,000 Hours of Employment during each 12-consecutive-month period (measured from his date of Employment and then as of the first day of each Plan Year commencing after such date of Employment); provided, however, if an Employee is credited with 1,000 Hours of Employment in both the initial eligibility computation period and the first Plan Year which commences prior to the first anniversary of the Employee's employment commencement date, the Employee will be credited, for eligibility purposes, with two Years of Eligibility Service. Where an Employer designates an eligibility waiting period of less than 12 months, an Employee must, for purposes of eligibility, complete a required number of hours (measured from his date of Employment and each anniversary thereafter) which is arrived at by multiplying the number of months in the eligibility waiting period requirement by 83 1/3; provided, however, if an Employee completes at least 1,000 Hours of Employment within the 12 month period commencing on his Employment commencement date or during any Plan Year commencing after such Employment commencement date, such Employee will be treated as satisfying the eligibility service requirements.
Year of Eligibility Service means an Eligibility Period during which an Employee is credited with at least 1,000 Hours of Service, except as otherwise specified in Article III.
Year of Eligibility Service means, for any Special Employee, a credit used to determine his eligibility to participate under the Plan, as further described in Section 2.2.

Examples of Year of Eligibility Service in a sentence

  • Each Part-time Employee of a Participating Unit shall be eligible to participate in the Plan on the Enrollment Date coincident with or next following the date on which he completes one Year of Eligibility Service with the Employer.

More Definitions of Year of Eligibility Service

Year of Eligibility Service. Means a 12 consecutive month period which coincides with an Eligibility Computation Period during which an Employee completes at least 1,000 Hours of Service (or such lesser number of Hours of Service specified in the Adoption Agreement for this purpose). An Employee does not complete a Year of Eligibility Service before the end of the 12 consecutive month period regardless of when during such period the Employee completes the required number of Hours of Service.
Year of Eligibility Service means any consecutive 12-month period of employment during which an Employee completes 1,000 or more Hours of Service. The first consecutive 12- month period to be taken into account for this purpose will be the consecutive 12-month period commencing with the Employee’s Employment or Reemployment Date. The second consecutive 12-month period to be taken into account for this purpose will be the Plan Year which includes the first anniversary of the Employee’s Employment or Reemployment Date. All subsequent 12- month periods to be taken into account for this purpose will correspond with Plan Years. An Employee does not complete a Year of Eligibility Service before the end of the 12-consecutive month period regardless of when during such period the Employee completes the required number of Hours of Service. Notwithstanding the foregoing, an Employee who successfully completes a ministerial internship as determined by the Committee shall be deemed to have completed a Year of Eligibility Service.
