Textbook Selection. Textbook committees composed of teachers, principals, and the assistant superintendent shall review textbooks and shall make recommendations to the administrative team for consideration. Final selection shall be left to the Board of Education or its authorized representatives.

Textbook Selection. Recognizing that adoption of textbooks is a fundamental principle of academic freedom, faculty members (annual contract and tenured faculty) shall be responsible for textbook adoptions. Once adoptions are approved, the Administration shall ensure that each faculty member is provided with a complimentary copy of textbooks selected for a course. The faculty member may keep the textbooks or return them to his immediate Administrative Supervisor.
Textbook Selection. Full-time Faculty members are responsible for selecting the textbooks and instructional materials for their respective departments per College guidelines. The parties agree that student access to affordable high quality textbooks and course materials is critical to the academic success of students and consistent with applicable law. The Faculty and the College are committed to the on- going development of appropriate policies, procedures, and standards for the selection of textbooks and course materials to maximize student success, access and affordability. The Faculty and College recognize the financial impact that the cost of textbooks has upon students. Faculty shall make every effort to help control student costs by selecting high-quality instructional material at the lowest available price and utilizing all required texts. Faculty shall use considerations when selecting texts as prescribed in Florida Statute and SBE Rule related to textbook affordability such as: • Digital textbooks or open access textbooks • Rental options (the College reserves the right to determine if a textbook is feasible to place in the rental program) • Length of time textbooks/instructional materials remain in use • Textbook/instructional material bundling options All sections of the same course shall use the same textbook. An exception may be made for an alternate textbook if the purpose is to pilot the textbook for possible future department-wide adoption. At the end of the pilot, if the alternate textbook is not adopted by the department, then the alternate textbook will no longer be used. A Faculty member shall not require a student to purchase any course materials that are not College approved per the process stated herein.
Textbook Selection. Faculty will select college textbooks in compliance with Florida Statutes. Textbooks for those courses for which there are two (2) or more sections on a campus are selected for a minimum of two (2) years by a campus committee as specified in Article 6.2, Academic Freedom, except as provided in Article 6.2.B.1 or in paragraphs A through E below. When circumstances occur that warrant a committee reconsideration of a textbook selection, the Xxxx with the Campus President's approval may make an exception to the minimum two-year requirement. Textbook Selection. All Associate Faculty shall be invited to participate in any discipline or program- wide textbook deliberations. When the faculty within a discipline group has agreed to use a particular textbook for a course, then all faculty members teaching that course shall adhere to that decision. Otherwise faculty selects their own textbooks for their courses. However, if the Associate Faculty accepts an assignment for a class in which the text books have already been ordered, s/he shall accept the pre- ordered text book for the class. All Associate Faculty may design their own courses in accordance with the curriculum guidelines (i.e., Course Outcome Guide) of the College unless these are discipline decisions, in which case the Associate Faculty member shall be invited to participate in the deliberations and shall adhere to the faculty-driven curricular decisions.
Textbook Selection. Teachers whose instructional responsibilities may be affected by textbook/material selection will be afforded an opportunity to submit written comments on the selection options before the final selection is made by the textbook selection committee which will include representatives of each affected building, grade level, and department.
