Sabbaticals definition

Sabbaticals. The Office of the Vice-President, Academic will notify faculty in writing of their eligibility to apply for a Sabbatical, and will make every effort to do so by August 1 (i.e. 11 months in advance of the commencement of the sabbatical). Tenured faculty who wish to apply for a full or partial Sabbatical must submit a completed Application for Sabbatical form to the Xxxx of Faculty, with a copy to the Vice-President, Academic by no later than September 1 (10 months in advance of the commencement of the sabbatical).
Sabbaticals. The Evaluation Committee and the Department Head will evaluate Department members' applications for sabbatical leave in accordance with the sabbatical leave policy of the University (8.1 of the Agreement). Sabbatical applications will be ranked more favorably if evidence is provided of one or more of the following: the leave will enable the faculty member to participate in professional development activities, the leave is likely to strengthen the faculty member’s contributions to the Department and University; the leave will lead directly to enhanced education of students.
Sabbaticals means a leave which has been requested for reasons other then health problems or uncontrollable circumstances;

Examples of Sabbaticals in a sentence

  • Sabbaticals for professional development are to be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below.

  • These retraining opportunities may include enrollment in tuition-free courses under the provisions of Article 24.7, and Sabbaticals or Professional Development Leaves under this Article.

  • Sabbatical leaves shall be identified as falling into one of two categories: • Leaves for the purpose of pursuing advanced degrees (Degree Sabbaticals).

  • Sabbaticals must be applied for and agreed to by the parties involved.

  • At its discretion, the Sabbatical/FIL committee may recommend reallocation of the 10 Sabbaticals and 16 FILs, based on the nature of the applications reviewed.

  • Sabbaticals may be taken for up to six (6) months every five (5) years and may be split into three (3) month periods with management approval.

  • Sabbaticals are granted at the discretion of the University Administration.

Related to Sabbaticals

  • Scholarship means a Scholarship as set out in Rule C 3 (a) (i) of the rules of The FA.

  • Tuition means the total amount of money charged for the cost of a qualifying student to attend an independent school including, but not limited to, fees for attending the school and school-related transportation.

  • parental bereavement leave means leave under section 80EA of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • FLEX means the Federation Licensing Examination, a licensure examination used in the past that was approved by the board for graduates with a medical degree.

  • Funeral means the ceremonies, rituals, and memorial

  • STD means Sexually Transmitted Disease.

  • Bereavement Pay Benefits means the benefits as set out in Article II hereof.

  • Continuation Period shall have the meaning set forth in Section 6.9(a).

  • Home Health Care means the continual care and treatment of an individual if:

  • School Days means days when school is in session for students.

  • Group health plan means an employee welfare benefit plan as defined in section 3(1) of subtitle A of title I of the employee retirement income security act of 1974, Public Law 93-406, 29 USC 1002, to the extent that the plan provides medical care, including items and services paid for as medical care to employees or their dependents as defined under the terms of the plan directly or through insurance, reimbursement, or otherwise.

  • Air gap separation means the unobstructed vertical distance through the free atmosphere between the lowest opening from any pipe or faucet supplying water to a tank, plumbing fixture, or other device and the overflow level rim of the receptacle, and shall be at least double the diameter of the supply pipe measured vertically above the flood level rim of the vessel, but in no case less than one inch.

  • Home health aide means an individual employed by a home health agency to provide home health services under the direction of a registered nurse or therapist.

  • ITT means the Purchaser’s invitation to tender dated (date ITT issued).

  • EDSP means the Exchange Delivery Settlement Price and has the meaning attributed to it in Rule PPPP.5.

  • Hospitalization means admission in a Hospital for a minimum period of 24 consecutive ‘In- patient Care’ hours except for specified procedures/ treatments, where such admission could be for a period of less than 24 consecutive hours.

  • COLA means cost of living adjustments.

  • Mobility means the ability to move indoors from room to room on level surfaces.

  • Universal bilateral modification means a bilateral modification, as defined in FAR subpart 43.1, that updates or incorporates new FAR or AIDAR clauses, other terms and conditions, or special requirements, affecting all USAID awards or a class of awards, as specified in the Agency notification of such modification.
