Application for Sabbatical. The application form for sabbatical leave is in Appendix V. It must be submitted to the Office of the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs on or before the 10th day of January. Application for sabbatical leave for a time period following completion of required service may take place during the final year of that required service. To be considered for funding, an application must be awarded a rating of greater than 50% in the evaluation process. Categories to be evaluated include: benefits to students, the department and the College; upgrading of personal or professional development; contributions to the College and/or the community; and comprehensiveness of the sabbatical proposal. Approval of pursuit of a degrees or coursework contained within the sabbatical application does not imply approval for the Educational Achievement Incentive Pay.
Application for Sabbatical. Tenured bargaining unit members who meet the sabbatical eligibility standard in Section 2, above, shall complete the official application form available on the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇’▇ website, attach a current curriculum vitae, and submit the application to their Department Chair or appropriate administrative officer. In applying for sabbatical leave, a tenured bargaining unit member shall also sign an agreement to return to Oregon Tech for a period of at least one academic year or twelve (12) months (depending on appointment) on completion of the sabbatical or repay the salary provided pursuant to Section 5, below. Sabbatical leave must begin and end with an academic term.

Application for Sabbatical a) A Member shall apply for a sabbatical leave in writing to their Academic Unit Lead or, in the case of the Academic Unit Lead to the VPAD, according to the timelines in Articles 25.18.a and b. Applications materials shall include:
i) A Sabbatical Leave Form that contains information required to adjudicate the sabbatical application;
ii) A clear, coherent, and feasible scholarly, creative, or professional development plan with expected outcomes to be undertaken during the leave;
iii) The location of the proposed scholarly, creative, or professional activities or projects;
iv) A description of the potential benefits of the sabbatical leave to the Member and how the sabbatical agenda could benefit Renison University College;
v) Where applicable, the status and outputs of any scholarly projects or impact of professional development undertaken in the previous sabbatical leave;
vi) Where applicable, a copy of the previous sabbatical leave report; vii)The Member's current curriculum vitae;

The Department Chair or appropriate administrative officer, in consultation 757 with the College ▇▇▇▇, shall discuss a plan to cover the duties of the bargaining unit members 758 during the term of the requested sabbatical. If a plan is developed after such consultation, it shall be 759 submitted to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, along with the application for sabbatical leave, for final decision. If a plan 760 is unable to be developed, the application shall not be forwarded to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇’▇ Office for further 761 review. A committee, comprising the College Deans, two of four tenured faculty members 762 nominated by the Faculty Senate, and one ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ appointee who will serve as committee chair, will 763 be charged by the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ to provide recommendations to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ for sabbatical leave. 764 Approval of sabbatical leave proposals and the number of sabbatical leaves authorized shall be the 765 sole discretion of the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. In cases where it is necessary to choose between several applications 766 for sabbatical leave from the same department or unit, preference shall not be given based on salary 767 or rank but instead on the merit of the application. In cases where sabbatical applications have equal 768 merit, a bargaining unit member who has more time in service since their last sabbatical leave will be 769 given highest priority for the award of sabbatical leave. 770 771 Once the term of the sabbatical leave is approved, such shall not be changed unless extenuating 772 circumstances are presented in writing to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ at least one (1) full term prior to the requested 773 date to return from the current sabbatical leave. Application for Sabbatical. 24.13.1.1. A member shall apply for a sabbatical leave in writing to their Department Chair or, in the case of the Chair to the VPAD, no later than six (6) months prior to the proposed commencement of the leave. Applications for sabbatical shall include:
(a) A Sabbatical Leave Form
(b) The Member's current curriculum vitae;
(c) The professional reason(s) for the application;
(d) The proposed research agenda with expected outcomes;
(e) Ways in which the sabbatical agenda could benefit scholarship and/or teaching at the University College;
(f) The status of any scholarly projects undertaken in the previous sabbatical leave (where applicable);
(g) Any relevant external funding applications; and
(h) The percentage-of-salary level expected during the leave as well as the number of sabbatical credits to be consumed.

(b) A Member requesting a sabbatical leave shall provide the Member’s ▇▇▇▇ with a dossier by September 30 of the year prior to the leave and it should include:
(i) the report of the previous sabbatical;
(ii) an outline of the proposed plans which explains why and how these should contribute to the Member’s scholarly, pedagogical, or professional development;
(iii) an updated curriculum vitae;
(iv) an explanation of the locale chosen;
(v) a summary of the Member’s preparation for that project;
(vi) a statement of scholarly and/or professional achievements since the previous sabbatical.
(c) The ▇▇▇▇ of the Faculty:
(i) for administrative reasons, may postpone the sabbatical or ask the Member to change the duration (six months instead of twelve or vice versa) and the dates of the sabbatical;
(ii) in consultation with the Member, assures that the proposal is in keeping with this Article;
(iii) after consultation with the Faculty Teaching Personnel Committee, approves the request and forwards it to the Council of Administration for the Council’s approval.
(d) If, on his/her previous sabbatical, a Member substantially failed to fulfill the objectives of the proposal or the obligations of Article 23.7 (a), (b), or (c), the ▇▇▇▇ or the University administration may place reasonable conditions on the approval of the new proposal and indeed may not grant the request for a further sabbatical leave if conditions warrant such a decision.
