Hospital Stay means a Medically Necessary overnight confinement in a Hospital when room and board and general nursing care are provided for which a per diem charge is made by the Hospital.

Hospital Stay. Covered Charges incurred with respect to a Hospital stay shall be applied toward the Major Medical deductible. All related charges will be paid at one-hundred percent (100%). The eighty percent (80%) co-insurance provision will not apply. If the charges for this condition exceed $2,000, all other unrelated Covered Charges will be paid at one-hundred percent (100%) for the remainder of that Calendar Year. If Hospital charges do not exceed $2,000, other unrelated charges will be paid at eighty percent (80%) until the total of all charges reaches $2,000. The following year, a new deductible for unrelated Sickness or Injury will have to be satisfied. NON-HOSPITAL STAY If a Covered Person has accumulated $300 or more in Covered Charges for a specific condition within a ninety (90) day period, without a Hospital stay, the Major Medical deductible will be met. Thereafter, Covered Charges for that condition will be paid at one-hundred percent (100%) as per the conditions described under BENEFIT PERIOD, (a), (b), above. All other unrelated Covered Charges for that Calendar Year will be paid as provided under the co insurance provision. For example: if bills for the specific condition are $2,000 or more, other unrelated Covered Charges will be paid at one-hundred percent (100%) for the remainder of that year.
