Volunteer Recruitment and Management. Tempe Experience Corps has a written plan that contains steps and processes for volunteer recruitment. We schedule information sessions from February through June, work with the City of Tempe marketing department and volunteer coordinator to promote Experience Corps, and meet with the AARP state office to coordinate press releases and email blasts. For the afterschool program, we will also focus on the senior centers that are housed within the multigenerational centers where tutoring will take place. All current on-boarding policies, including interviews, fingerprinting, and screening will be followed. Afterschool volunteers will attend the same pre- service training as in-school volunteers and will have additional training in small group work. Tempe Experience Corps has a strong on-site support and management component. A dedicated staff person will oversee the three afterschool sites, providing logistical support, monitoring student progress, and being available as a resource for volunteer questions and concerns. Tempe Experience Corps emphasizes quality and fidelity to our model of structured, sustained tutoring.
