Use of Contractual Sick Leave. Contractual sick leave benefits shall be paid at the nurse’s straight time rate of pay for bona fide cases of personal illness or injury, including pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion, and childbirth, which has incapacitated the nurse from performing regular duties. Contractual sick leave may be used for illness or injury of a dependent child under the age of eighteen (18) years. Accrued contractual sick leave may also be used in the event of a health condition of a nurse’s child under the age of 18 that requires treatment or supervision, or for a child age 18 or older and incapable of self care due to mental or physical disability, or in the event of a serious health condition or an emergency condition of a nurse’s spouse, parent, parent-in-law or grandparent in accordance with and subject to the Washington Family Care Act (RCW 49.12.265-.295) as it may be amended from time to time. The Hospital reserves the right to require reasonable proof of such illness or injury. Excessive absenteeism will be subject to counseling/disciplinary action in accordance with Hospital attendance policies.

  • Personal Sick Leave The following provisions will apply to all employees (other than casual employees) covered by this Agreement.

An employee, other than a casual employee, with responsibilities in relation to a class of person set out in subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (c) of this sub-clause, who needs the employee’s care and support shall be entitled to use, in accordance with this sub-clause, any current or accrued sick leave entitlements provided for in clause 18 of the award, sick leave, for absences to provide care and support for such persons when they are ill. Such leave may be taken for part of a single day.

  • Misuse of Sick Leave Use of sick leave for that which it was not intended or provided.

  • Entitlement to Other Sick Leave Each employee in the bargaining unit shall once a year be credited with a total of 100 days sick leave in addition to the sick leave provided under Section 13.4.1 of this Article. Each day of sick leave provided by this Section shall be compensated at the rate of fifty (50) percent of the employee’s regular salary. The paid sick leave provided for under this Section shall be in addition to any other paid leave provided for in this Article and shall be used after the exhaustion of the leaves provided in Sections 13.4. The leave in this Section shall not be accumulative.

  • Abuse of Sick Leave Misuse of leave, violation of orders, directives, or contractual requirements concerning the use of sick leave and other forms of leave used in lieu of sick leave are cause for disciplinary action.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use Family Sick Leave for the illness of a member of the employee's immediate family who requires the care and assistance of the employee. Up to eighty (80) hours per calendar year of the employee’s accumulated unused sick leave may be used for this purpose.

  • Cumulative Sick Leave 16.1 Employees covered by this collective agreement will carry forward their accumulated sick leave days from the predecessor school boards to a maximum of 280 days. Effective September 1, 1999 employees (other than temporary employees) shall be credited with two (2) days of sick leave for each month of active full time service to a yearly maximum of 20 days for ten month employees. Effective September 1, 2003 100% of the unused days each year are accumulated, to a possible sick leave total of three hundred (300) days. Sick leave days will be pro-rated for part-time employment.

  • Cumulative Sick Leave Plan Each employee shall accumulate sick leave with pay entitlement at the rate of one-half work day for each full bi-weekly pay period on paid status up to a maximum accumulation of 155 days of unused sick leave with pay entitlement.
