  • Unpaid Leaves A. Leaves of absence without pay or benefits up to one (1) year in duration are available upon written request from a bargaining unit member for purposes set forth in Section B of this Article. During said leaves, seniority shall continue to accumulate. Written requests for leaves of absence shall include the reason for the leave along with notification of the beginning and ending dates of said leaves. A bargaining unit member returning from a leave of absence shall be reinstated to the same position and classification he/she held when the leave began. At least sixty (60) calendar days (except in the event that circumstances do not permit) prior to the date a leave is scheduled to expire, a bargaining unit member shall notify the Employer in writing of his/her intent to return to work. Failure to provide the written notification shall constitute the employee’s resignation from employment.

  • Unpaid Leave Requests by employees for unpaid leave of absence shall be made in writing to the department supervisor and may be granted at the Employer's discretion. The employee shall give at least seven (7) days' notice to minimize disruption of staff. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to comply with such requests. Notice of the Employer's decision shall be given in writing as soon as possible.

  • Paid Leave (a) Faculty members shall be entitled to military leave with pay not to exceed twenty one (21) working days during each year, beginning October 1 and ending the following September 30, in order to report for active duty, when called, or to take part in active training duty in such manner and at such time as they may be ordered to active duty or active training duty in the Washington National Guard or the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Marine Corps reserve of the United States or any organized reserve or armed forces of the United States. Such leave shall not result in any reduction of benefits, performance ratings, privileges or pay. During paid military leave, the faculty member shall receive his or her normal salary.
