Self Improvement Leave. Leave of absence without pay for a period not to exceed one year for self improvement, including graduate study or travel, which has been approved by the Board and which is consistent with educational growth of the teacher in his/her field may be granted at the teacher's written request.
Self Improvement Leave. A. Definition Professional leave is any absence from duty for the purpose of attending a professional meeting, workshop, or clinic, or for observing an educational program, exhibit, performance, or process, or participation in an educational study, discussion or conference, which would improve the competence of the employee, or for rendering a service to the school through the application of knowledge gained.
Self Improvement Leave. Any teacher who has been employed in the High Bridge School District for a period of at least ten (10) years may apply for an unpaid leave of absence of one school year's duration. Eligible teachers may be granted this leave for the purpose of formal graduate study, independent research or writing of doctoral thesis.
