Pay on Transfer Higher/Lower Rated Job. When an employee temporarily substitutes or performs the duties of a higher paying position within the bargaining unit, he/she shall receive the higher rate for the position. When an employee is assigned in accordance with the terms of this Collective Agreement to a position paying a lower rate, his/her rate shall not be reduced. Where an employee is the successful applicant to a vacant position, whether temporary or permanent, the employee shall be paid at the applicable rate upon assuming the duties of the new position. Where an employee is temporarily assigned the duties of a lower-rated position by the Employer, the employee’s pay shall not be reduced. Where an employee is temporarily assigned the duties of higher-rated position by the Employer, the employee shall be paid the applicable higher rate while performing those duties. Where an employee agrees to accept a shift(s) in a lower-rated position, the employee shall be paid at the lower rate of pay for the hours worked in that position.

Pay on Transfer Higher/Lower Rated Job. When an employee is temporarily assigned to or performs the principal duties of a higher paying position for three (3) hours per day or more, they shall receive the rate for the job during such temporary period for each hour worked at the higher paying position, except in cases of an employee trainee. When an employee is assigned to a position paying a lower rate, their rate shall not be reduced until after thirty (30) consecutive working days.
