Non Seasonal Temporary Employees. When filling a known vacancy of an AFSCME represented position, Temporary employees shall be employees hired directly by the City or through an agency contracted with the City. Such employees shall be employed no more than the equivalent of six (6) months (182 consecutive days) in a rolling 12-month period. An extension of up to an additional 6 months is available with union concurrence. Overtime shall be offered to regular employees prior to temporary employees being utilized, unless no qualified regular employees are available. The City will notify the Union prior to the use or hiring of Temporary employee under this clause. It is understood that the use of Temporary/Supplemental employees as provided for in this section shall not be deemed as supplanting bargaining unit work.

  • Temporary Employees 3.3.1 A temporary employee is an employee who is hired for short-term work assignment which is not ongoing (i.e. normally 12 months or less and not extending beyond 24 months). The employee's benefits and working conditions are as per Article 34 (Temporary Employees).
