Auxiliary Employees definition

Auxiliary Employees are employees that occupy an on call roster and that are employed to cover absences and/or for work which is not of a continuous nature such as: (a) seasonal positions; (b) positions created to carry out projects of a specific length (not to exceed three months) and agreed to by the Union; (c) positions created to cover employees on scheduled time off in lieu of overtime, vacation, sick leave, short-term disability leave, bereavement leave, maternity leave, parental leave, paternity leave and other leaves excluding Article 11.5 - Care and Nurturing/Bridging of Service; (d) temporary positions for on call work or emergencies.
Auxiliary Employees are those who are working on jobs which may not continue as a regularly constituted position, or work less than twenty (20) hours per week, or hired for work that reoccurs seasonally for periods of less than one hundred and twenty (120) consecutive calendar days. The term of a seasonal appointment may be extended by mutual agreement between the Union and University. The University shall rely upon the review process conducted pursuant to Article 22.04 to determine whether an employee may be eligible for conversion to Regular status. The University will assess the reasonable likelihood of the employee’s position continuing at 960 hours or more on a recurring basis.

Examples of Auxiliary Employees in a sentence

  • Time Employees who formerly worked as Auxiliary Employees and who obtained seniority will also have their past auxiliary service credited for these same purposes.

  • Vacation pay for Auxiliary Employees shall be calculated and paid to the Employee on each pay cheque for basic wages, per Article 15 (overtime etc not included), that the Employee receives.

  • Auxiliary Employees shall accumulate vacation pay at the statutory rate of four percent (4%) of basic wages.

  • Auxiliary Employees are eligible for callout provided the employee has completed a full shift, e.g., 7 or 8 hours as appropriate, and is called and required to return to work prior to the expiration of a full eight (8) hour rest period.

The termination date serves as notice of seasonal layoff, and no other notice is required of the University. Seasonal employees shall be laid off at the termination date. The termination date may be modified with not less than seven (7) working daysnotice or pay in lieu of notice.
Auxiliary Employees means Employees whose salaries are not paid by the City (e.g., N.Y.C., Y.E.P.T.A., etc.) but who are utilized by the City to perform extra work. These Employees shall not be utilized in a manner that will erode or supplant the regular work force.
