Fieldwork quality Sample Clauses

Fieldwork quality. It is likely that some of the case study surveys would need to take place in challenging fieldwork areas. Ipsos MORI is highly experienced in undertaking survey research in challenging areas either as part of wider survey exercises or projects in their own right. For example, we can draw on our work on the evaluation of New Deal for Communities (NDC), and our research on Citizenship Surveys for the Home Office. These studies required us to deliver large numbers of interviews among the most socially disadvantaged wards in Britain. We also do a considerable amount of face-to-face survey research in London and other big cities where there are multiple occupancy buildings, gatekeepers, home security and door entry systems on flats and other shared properties that make it increasingly difficult even to make initial contact with households. We would also issue interviewers with letters, which they could leave behind, to reassure respondents the survey is valid, anonymous, and will not result in them being contacted by a third party. The quantitative fieldwork would be conducted by our fully-trained and briefed interviewer team. The interviews would be conducted using Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI). Our interviewers work in accordance with the ISO 20252 system which incorporates much of the Interviewer Quality Control Scheme (IQCS) and the old MRQSA/BS7911. We regard these standards as minimum requirements, not as goals in their own right. This is because our work with other research agencies has convinced us that compliance is not a guarantee of quality. In several key aspects of fieldwork, we think it necessary to go beyond the minimum. We provide answers to some key questions we often get asked by clients about face- to-face interviewing in Appendix C. These case study surveys will be more involved in than a standard quotas survey and as such we are recommending supplementing the written interviewer instructions we issue on all jobs with telephone briefings. The briefings will be conducted by senior members of the project team. Interviewers will firstly receive their interviewer packs and asked to complete several dummy interviews on their CAPI machines before the briefing. This ensures we make best use of the time allotted. The briefings would take place as telephone...
