Family Medical Care Days. Each teacher shall be permitted four (4) paid family medical care days per school year to make arrangements for the care of, or to otherwise care for a seriously ill spouse, domestic partner, child, step-child, siblings, parent or parent-in-law. Unused family medical care days shall not accumulate, nor shall they be eligible for conversation to personal illness days. If an employee uses Family Medical Care Days for reasons other than those for which they are intended, such employee shall be subject to dismissal from further services. For serious health conditions involving a spouse, child, step-child, parent or parent-in-law, eligible staff may be entitled to unpaid leave under the provisions of the Federal Family Medical Leave Act. The Board reserves the right to ask the employee to submit verification of a family member’s illness, as permitted under the Barnegat Board of Education PERC 84-123, 10 NJPER 15133 decisions. The superintendent may, at his/her discretion, extend the use of Family Medical Care Days to other family members, depending on the specifics of each presenting situation.

  • Medical Care Leave An Employee who is unable to make the necessary arrangements for maintenance of personal health care outside of scheduled work time, shall be granted time off with pay. Such time off shall not exceed sixteen (16) working hours per calendar year. Hours in excess of sixteen (16) hours per calendar year shall be deducted from the Employee's sick leave accumulation.

  • Family Care and Medical Leave An unpaid Family Care and Medical Leave shall be granted, to the extent of and subject to the restrictions as set forth below, to an employee who has been employed for at least twelve (12) months and who has served for one hundred thirty days (130) workdays during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the effective date of the leave. For purposes of this section, furlough days and days worked during off-basis time shall count as "workdays". Family Care and Medical Leave absences of twenty (20) consecutive working days or less can be granted by the immediate administrator or designee.
