Class with Higher Salary Range. If the position is reclassified to a class with a higher salary range than the previous class, and if the incumbent is appointed to the reclassified position, they shall be compensated at the entry rate of the higher salary range or at the rate which would provide a minimum of 5 percent above the rate they were receiving prior to reclassification, whichever is greater. In no event shall the employee receive a salary higher than the top step of the new range.

Class with Higher Salary Range. If the position is reclassified to a class with a higher salary range than the previous class, and if the incumbent is appointed to the reclassified position, the employee shall be placed in the lowest rate which results in an increase over the employee's rate in the previous class. In addition, the Director of Human Resources may approve, subject only to her discretion, a reclassification increase above the requirements set forth above, in the case of an unusually well qualified person or in a tight labor market, or when such action clearly appears to be in the best interest of the City. The effective date of the reclassification shall not affect the employee's performance review date. The employee shall not be required to serve a new probation period.
