Card Not Present definition

Card Not Present or “CNP” means that an Imprint of the Card is not obtained at the point-of-sale.
Card Not Present or “CNP” is a Card Transaction wherein neither the Cardholder nor the Card is physically present at the Point of Sale. Mail order and telephone order (MO/TO), electronic commerce, and Preauthorized Transactions are collectively referred to as “CNP Transactions”. “Card Program” is one or more programs of financial service Cards honored by Merchants and financial institutions for presentment and collection of Cardholder indebtedness.
Card Not Present means mail order, telephone order, e-commerce (Internet) order, or other transactions that are not Card-Present Transactions.

  • If your Card is cancelled because you transfer to a different Card type, we may continue to process your Card Not Present Charges for a period of 60 days after cancellation.

More Definitions of Card Not Present

Card Not Present means an environment where the Card is not physically presented to the Customer by the Cardholder as the form of payment, nor is the Cardholder physically present, at the time of sale (including, Mail Order/Telephone Order Transactions and Internet Transactions).
Card Not Present transaction refers to a transaction that occurs when the Card is not present at the point-of-sale, including, without limitation, Internet, mail order, and telephone order sales.

As described in clauses 3-5, the Merchant is required to verify whether the Card Offerer is indeed the rightful owner (i.e., the Cardholder) of the Card. Card Schemes: means, unless otherwise agreed by the parties, Visa, JCB, Diners, Discover, ChinaUnionPay and MasterCard. Card Scheme Rules: means the rules and regulations which regulate participants in the Card Schemes.
Card Not Present means a Card payment transaction processed without the presence of a physical Card, either by way of a manual entry of Card details or online capture of Card details for E-commerce transactions, in other words where the physical Card has not been swiped, dipped or tapped by means of a reader.
